Unlike the first Dragon Quest Builders, the sequel will feature slopes, the ability to dive underwater, a greater limit to the amount of blocks you can stack (it has increased three-fold, both high and low), the ability to fill high places with water, create waterfalls, glide down from high places with a glider, and supports four-person multiplayer.

As for what the setting is like, Square Enix gave the keywords “fellow travelers” and “young Malroth.” Malroth, also known as Sidoh, is the final enemy players face in Dragon Quest II.

A shame to see no Vita release this time around, but I presume that means they're expanding the scope of the game some. A good game for Switch owners though. I played the shit out of Builders 1.

So from the information there I gather It's minecraft with 12% of the content and building potential. Not to seem blunt but it's like... all those awesome improvements they're mentioning there were in like, Alpha 0.1 of MC.

So I'm missing something and this game has more charm to it, what other gameplay elements and such help it stand out as someone who didn't play the first? Video didn't help much and I'm sure hungry for a great switch game for when I'm done with BoTw (oh and Splatoon if I decide)

Set After the Events of DQ2

In Dragon Quest II, the corrupt cleric Hargon and the God of Destruction Malroth were defeated by the ancestors of the Hero, and peace was brought back to the world. However, a religious group that wants to pick up where Hargon left off has arrived and brought a new terror.

In the original Dragon Quest II, Hargon is initially established as the main antagonist and is for the most part of the game. Upon defeating him, he uses his last breath to offer himself to Malroth as a sacrifice and dies. This summons the God of Destruction Malroth, which ends up being the final battle of the game.

After Hargon was defeated, peace was disturbed by the Hargon Order, that has been bringing destruction to various towns and castles across the lands and with most of it in ruins, the remainder of humanity is scarce.

The Order’s objective is to destroy the world, and the Builder that has the power of creation is a bother to the group, so they decided to capture the protagonist and throw him/her into jail.

I actually really enjoyed the first. It was like 2-D Zelda combat with a minecraft city builder and decent enough story.

My son and I enjoyed the first one, and we're both excited for the second. Lots of new QoL stuff in the second that's a great welcome.

Demo is fun enough to get a good feel of the game. Can also find a few hidden areas to get some cool new stuff.
