Wife is pregernert so probably no oysters this round even though we usually eat tons. I was debating all 3 of those Portland places or Scales - I wanna eat at duckfat so bad.

Second that, Duckfat is easily one of the tastiest meals in Portland and/or the north east.

Fuck I didn't see this thread the other day. My family used to go to Newport every summer. I love Newport.

If you go back, I have a few suggestions.

Brick Alley Pub is meh, but the decor is that fun, kitschy stuff all over the place.

The Mooring is really good seafood. I normally get some oysters, their hush puppies, and a nice tuna dish.

Smokehouse is a tradition for my family. We go there the first night and be complete gluttons. Stuff our face full of ribs, pulled pork, hog wings, and beer.

Kilwin's has good ice cream and candies/fudge. Believe it's a chain or at least multi-location thing, but it's better than Country Kettle imo. There are also a few Ben & Jerry's shops.

Lobster Bar at the back of Bowen's Wharf is tasty. It's super casual, and is not fancy in the slightest, but all the seafood comes in fresh so you know it's good quality. Usually get a lobster roll or something around lunch.

Newport Lobster Shack next to the Newport Shipyard is arguable better lobster rolls. It's directly on the pier where the ships come in. The area smells strongly of fish, but the lobster roll is really good.

You can also take a stroll through the shipyard after and stare at the ridiculous yachts that come through. My dad usually keeps his boat in there and all the workers love it. It's a 27'? Corsair, a trimaran. It's tiny compared to the rest of the ships, but it's a fun boat so the staff asks to come out sometimes. They also have a small restaurant/snack bar deal in there that serves some pretty good sandwiches and salads. Can sit at the tables right outside.

There are tons of mansions, real, baller mansions, that you can tour. I've done all of them at this point, but it's still fun to go back. Marble House is awesome and The Breakers is beautiful. The others are just as impressive, but these are two of my favorites. It's ridiculous the money they put into these mansions, and some of them were just "presents" for loved ones or wedding gifts and shit. Would have been nice to have Vanderbilt/Rockefeller money.

Fort Adams is a really cool tour to take as well if you like history and/or creepy old forts.

Castle Hill Inn at the mouth of the bay is beautiful. They have Adirondack chairs out on the grounds along the cliff where you can watch the ships come in and out. They also have nice food, but it is pretty expensive.

Brenton Point is also really nice. The roads out along the ocean is probably my favorite drive. At the park itself there are normally a whole shit load of people flying kites and a few kite vendors. It is super windy, though, so if you go that route make sure you keep a firm grip. I lost a kite when I was younger.

Fug, thought I was good since it took so long but the first German speeding ticket came in the mail today. I know I got flashed one other time a day or two later too.
I'd ignore them if I wasn't going back over there in December qq

I would say Bains des Pâquis, the lake, and the various parks but u'll be there in january so i'm not really sure how fun an outdoor pool under the Jet d’Eau would be. They do have winterfest from january 28th-12th and quite a few museums to check out.

I actually know very little about unique things to do or sights to see in Geneva, I have always viewed it as a very nice ski town with a black hole creator hidden in it basically.

edit: I would say that you should consider day trips to nearby places like Marseilles and Lyon which are only 4hrs and 1-2hrs away respectively.

Enjoy spending a fucking fortune. Place is staggeringly expensive. Nice AF though. Lyon is the titties, Marseilles is mostly a dump. Consider heading to Basel and up into Germany as well. Easy train rides all over.

Took off from Newark at 7am and just landed in Calgary YYC.

Holy shit the juxtaposition from the shit hole of New Jersey to Calgary is nuts. This airport is beautiful.

    Edit: wrong airport code

Travelled to Boracay Island in earlier this year, with tourist limitations in place. Miles of sandy beaches so empty (especially in Station 1) that it felt like we were in a private island, along with incredibly beautiful ocean..

Swimming under the full moon midnight...walking 6-7 miles barefoot each and every day during tides...

    It was just beauituful.
