Ordered a two topping pizza from Pizza Hut last night. Was almost as bad as a hot and ready.
I grab a Screamin' Sicilian when they go on sale. We only have a couple locals but I haven't bothered to try because I've tried to stay away from Pizza. I ordered last night because it was only $6, but still super disappointing. They are now charging a dollar if you want it to be original pan. Fuck outta here with that.
Man, I would try making your own. My GF makes the dough and we use a cast iron. It's a simple dough with canned tomato sauce, low-moisture mozz, and fresh basil. Shit's delish.
If you wanna make it low cal, grab some flour tortillas and make pub pizzas. Can sub in healthier stuff p easily.
Seriously this. Making your own pizza is super easy. Even easier if you have a breadmaker just start the dough when you get home from work it is ready to go in about 20ish minutes. If you want to go really quick go to Trader Joes and get a bag of raw pizza dough to roll out and make a fresh pizza. It is the best when topped with fresh basil and tomatoes from your garden.
Put a packet of quick rise yeast into 1-1/3 cup warm water. Let sit for 15 min.
Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon salt, 3-1/2 cups flour.
Knead until dough is smooth. Add 1 tablespoon of water at a time if too dry, 1 tablespoon of flour at a time if too wet.
Let sit for an hour to an hour and a half. Now you have double pizza doughs.
Eat raw (don't actually do that. it doesn't taste good enough to eat raw.)
Pizza is something we've never tried to make. Would be fun to experiment.
Even a good pre-made crust will be better then what Pizza Hut gives you now.
It's pretty easy. Just make sure your stove is SUPER hot.
You can also just do it on the grill.
Don't do a smoker. That sounds kinda gross tbh.
I would do it on a super super hot stove/grill only.
We still have a charcoal grill. Could try that.
Charcoal grill can work. You just want it super hot. I usually set my oven to 500 F.
My favorite low carb pizza is skillet pizza , just take shredded mozzarella in a pan , sprinkle oregano and garlic salt and let the cheese melt and bubble until crisp. Usually add good quality pepperoni too.
I've been experimenting on making my own pizza.
The success is that I think they taste fucking good and don't cost me $2 per topping.
The fail is my kids hate it.
My mom comes in a week for the summer and we are going to try to make them kid-friendly. (I have various pizza pans now, some individuals for the kids, so I can cater to them).
If I wanted the type of pizza I want at restaurants now it'd cost me about $30 out here. I'm to old to be paying that kind of money for a pizza.
This was the first pizza I made:
I keep remembering where you live and all I can think of is Topper's BCT or Spicy Garlic Italian pizzas. But that's like $25 for a large ugh.
