Back to being the Lego LordYeah. My symptoms have been extremely bad for the last ~8 months or so. For the first few I was able to make it in occasionally, but I haven't been doing that well in quite a while. Despite the work being non-physical, it still requires being present and at your desk- and involves a fair amount of stress in and of itself. As my symptoms got worse, I found I could not stay at my desk for more than a call or two at a time before needing to rush to the restroom- sometimes in the middle of calls. Obviously, my performance fell off a rather steep cliff (i was good at my job, dammit), and that combined with the worries about my attendance, I've been extremely stressed. I even had a psych consult to see if they had any suggestions. That helped me manage the stress, but didn't really do much for the root causes. Eventually I couldn't even make the drive in to work anymore.
I'd been on a leave of absence, but I misunderstood some of the paperwork requirements and did it wrong. So the company is terminating my contract. I was never off of disability (i just wasn't getting payments for a while) so this is really more of a relief than anything else. I'm hoping that as the stress fades away my symptoms will recover at least enough to let me get out of the house a bit more often. As things stand, I've missed 2 of the 4 social engagements I felt I could commit to in the last 4 weeks, and those are the ONLY times i've made out out of my home.
