It's not the draw for the game but speaking as someone who lives and breathes Dark Souls style combat, it doesn't hinder your enjoyment of the game.
And there's good variety in styles as you unlock the Witcher sets, even if they're not necessarily balanced (which tbf doesn't matter since it's a single player game)
I'm waiting for DS3 complete to be around $30 before I buy (which will probably be awhile). I'm sure this will get my rpg fix. I did 100% for DS1. I don't really have a want to go back to DS2. Almost bought Black Desert Online but every video I watched it just looks like a hack and slash combat which I can get from my backlog.
dunno why it's even being compared to Dark Souls, Witcher is a very western, Bioware-style RPG with a million scripted side quests and a heavy emphasis on narrative and world-building where you spend more time in the dialogue system than you do in combat. for the combat itself i'm with Krandor, it's not great but calling it terrible is a ridiculous overstatement, it's nowhere near Bethesda levels of bad.
I tried to go back and play Skyrim. I had a bad time.
The perk mod Ordinator and all the other mods by the same guy spice up the gameplay pretty well. I've been playing the SE alot recently with those as the only gameplay mods and it works well.
I don't have a GPU at the moment (installing a R9 380 4GB tonight) that could run Skyrim the way I'd want to anyways. Once Vega is announced I'll make a decision on what to buy and then revisit good old Skyrim.

Man I'd be so salty if I pre-ordered and paid full price for RE6.
I'd be salty if I paid full price for anything.
I enjoyed 6. Suplexing zombie bitches!
I wouldn't even pay $1 for the dumpster fire that Umbrella Corps is.
Mario Odyssey currently up for physical pre-order for $48.50 on Amazon. Prime discount (according to the Amazon rep I spoke with) will also apply when that item ships.
Xenoblade 2 was listed for the same price, but they've since changed it.
Do note this is apparently for the US only.
Edit: That was quick. Both have been changed back to 59.99 new and 47.99 with Prime applied.
Humble Bundle Telltale released today. https://www.humblebundle.com/telltale-bundle-2017
I have almost all games in the BTA but not the Telltale Texas Hold Em (not Poker at the Inventory). If anyone buys it and doesn't want Telltale Texas Hold Em I wouldn't turn it away!
