Still no power at home and I'm in an hour long line in Miami to get some carne asada. Flew a kite, lost a kite, and swam in the pool. Aside from the loss of power and some downed trees, Irma was whatever.

The mountains of Cuba really were the MVP on Saturday, taking Irma from Cat 4 down to Cat 3.
FPL put up lights around my apartment complex substation and then left for the day.... Way to tease my apartment complex
Edit: FPL suddenly turned back on everything right as I was writing this post. Yay Sweet Sweet Air Conditioning!
Hurricane Jose looks to chill out in the Atlantic for a few days and weaken possibly to a tropical storm before turning north and hitting the Carolinas/Virginia on Sunday or Monday.
Some dumbasses in Florida pissed off the entire Caribbean by calling the houses there cardboard when that's what the Caribbean considers American houses to be made of.

The Southernmost Point in Key West took a beating from the storm surge.
It wasn't nearly as bad as they said it was going to be here in east Tennessee yesterday. There was rain and contant wind but not as high as they predicted. There were some trees down and sporadic power outages but not at my place. The lights flickered for a while but that was it. I feel like weathermen forcast the worst possible thing cause if they say it's not going to do anything and it does and there is damage they will get fired. Anyway..
Look at this. Irma has stripped most of the vegetation from the Caribbean Islands.

holy shit
Flood waters from the Santa Fe river are about to shutdown I-75 for a few days. Gonna make travel back to South Florida for returning evacuees a nightmare. I-95 about to be lit.
Jose no longer forecast to hit the US mainland. Should fade away in a few days time.
8 seniors found dead in a nursing home in Hollywood, Florida after it lost power
Hopefully not from one of my clients, that's sad.
Florida nuns are no chill

My sister in law was just telling me about this earlier, apparently the nursing home is right across the street from a hospital so definitely could of been avoided.

Day 6. Power finally came back a few minutes ago at 6 PM. Had no power, no water, no food, no internet, and no cell service since Saturday morning. It seems the hurricane knocked out all the cell towers somehow. It was over 90 degrees in my house according to the thermostat. There was no gas or ice anywhere to be found. My neighborhood was wrecked. Glad to finally have air conditioning again. This was a living hell
Still no power here. Close to being out of data, too. Can walk 45 seconds (literally) in any direction of my house and find a house or business with power.
Take a cold shower, get out and just as nasty again 30 minutes later
Our power didn't even go out. It was shut off several hours prior to the storm (some shit about preventing overload, but only shut off my block)and looks like we're going to be the last to get it back on.
Went from all of county back on by tonight to Sunday or later now
It's like my golden ages all over again but pissed now because these bills are actually bein paid for
We got a new disturbance with 80% chance of formation. I can see Lee (next named Atlantic system) spawning some memes...
On the pacific, we got Tropical Depression Max, Norma, and a possible new storm forming if it picks up 10 more mph sustained winds.
4 of us activated to go to the fucking Virgin Islands. I'm not one of the ones going. But I'm going to Spain in 3 days so idgaf.
New England may have a bad time in a little while.
