Update, wind speed clocked in at 110 at 1pm CST, just one mile under category 3. Next reading at 2pm has it at 120, which is half way to a category 4. Going to be a fun weekend here in Austin.
Just learned that Verizon doesn't have fucking Weather Channel.
This weekend is gonna suck.
Love how the feds haven't granted disaster declaration status yet.
6-8 states USAR and task force teams have been activated and we just got the conference call that NJ's is even expected to be. If that happens I'll get 1-2 weeks of overtime 24 hours a day from activation through demobilization and return trip. Gonna be a long drive in a convoy of heavy vehicles.
So this popped up on my twitter feed

People who don't evacuate Corpus Christi ahead of #HurricaneHarvey told to write their names/SSN on their arms so their bodies can be ID'd.
Will this be bad enough that police going to be allowed to hunt and kill black people a la katrina?
You could probably claim self defense and get away with it as a Civ in this I'd bet.
Now upgraded to Category 4 with many hours remaining of strengthening.
I would say that there is a small, but very real chance we may actually see a category 5. This may be worse than Katrina.
It's trash tier.

Some places may get 40" of rain.
That's more than Seattle receives in a YEAR.
If there's any consolation at all it's that the absolutely hardest-hit area is between Corpus Christie and Galveston/Houston - if it was 50 miles further north or south it would be even worse.
