Some Gameplay from TGS.
Some Gameplay from TGS.
I want more of these.
SE, get the people doing these to do all your SNES era RPGs.
FF6 needs some love, do it.
I remember glitching a 9th orb in for the Mana sword, only to cast Mana on it during the final fight, and have it disappear from the hero's hands and my inventory after it wore off.
I remember glitching the 9th orb too! Felt so proud.
Was such a nerd about it. I borrowed my friend's copy of it when I found out about it, did the glitch, and just said "Hey, check your inventory" when I gave him the game back. He was so shocked.
I seriously wonder how the glitch was discovered, the steps are so bizarre lol
Before the days of internet, I just assumed it's a rare drop from Mana Fortress. Spent many many many many weeks grinding there.
They already ruined FF6 with that RPG Maker grade port of it. If these guys are to do anything it's getting SD3 done and formally localized for once...
Spoiler: show
At least Evermore is readily available in an official english translation.
FF6 will happen, just a matter of waiting 10 years for them to finish the FF7 remake and then another 10 years of will they/wont they?
I like the little touches theyre putting in for nostalgia sake, but Randi's charged stance with the sword is throwing me off a little bit. It just doesn't seem as forceful as the SNES version. Also bugs me a little bit that the sprites when using spells could use a darker outline to distinguish them from the heavy pastel palette that SoM has.
Really FF6 needs the Octopath Traveler treatment
Really FF5 and FF6 need the treatment FF3 and FF4 already got and rightly deserve, as a bare fucking minimum.
Everyone suspected SE was holding out for the 3DS before they moved forward with 3D remakes of 5 and 6, then nothing happened for like 3 years, we got those abominable iOS ports, and fans remain baffled.
Hopefully this success of this Secret of Mana port rekindles the conversation about FF5/6. For fuck's sake.
6 definitely needs to maintain a more grounded/less cartoonish style to fit its tone.

OP
Gameplay
I keep wanting to like it, but it just doesn't capture the charm of the original game.
3D mana games never have the charm of old. 2D is the only way the series should go forward, or 2.5D
This is why if they remake FF6 I hope they use the same style Octopath Traveler has.
Oh shit.. that style would be amazing.
