FFRK - Four As One (V) Event & Strategies

Okay, so they bungled the translation for this event. It's supposed to be "Four Hearts".

Greg isn't even invited. What's up with that?

"Yeah! You know, it was my dad's dying wish that I go out and travel the world...
Plus, this time, it feels like...like the wind is calling me."
    - Bartz

In the beginning there was Void. Then four spirits came together in this Void.
The crystals were born and the world was created.
Thus, Hope gives the earth blessings, Courage lights the flames,
Kindness makes water the source of life, Pursuit lets wisdom ride the wind.
When the time comes that Void shall again envelope the world.
if within people live the four spirits, Light shall again be born.
Four spirits, Wandering through Void Shall once again give birth to light.

    Event Start Date: August 31

Though the information provided is used as a guideline and not always taken directly from the thread. When necessary, additional thoughts on Cid Missions and battle strategies are added.

    Notable Rewards:
Bartz's Belt - Accessory. Atk+15 and moderate water resistance. This should also be our 5th moderate or better water resist accessory.

Quake Strike - 5* Spellblade. 2 physical AoE earth attacks. Flurry Earthy jokes are acceptable.

    Relics
Not a very exciting banner, honestly. DeNa gives Bartz his third BSB, proving they still can't get him right. Lenna gets nothing new. Greg isn't even here. Total shit-show.

Dorgan of all people gets new stuff. Dorgan. Sip on that for a minute.

    Banner 1:
Intro aside, you know why you're here. Bartz spellblade shenanigans.

Do be prepared though, you will be chasing a lot of the 6* on banner 1 for the REALLY good stuff. Not saying the BSB's and SSB's are bad, but they're far from the reasons to pull here.

Bartz. Spellblade Hero. His Chicken Knife USB has a 10-hit water/wind/fire/earth physical attack that grants Spellblade Barrage EX Mode. This gives Bartz atk+30% and spellblade short charge for its entire duration - none of this 2-3 times bullcrap.

The chase is either 2 hits or 8 hits of the spellblade element used (water/wind/fire/earth).

But thats not all. Guess what? Bartz's third BSB is also spellblade related, giving him 8 hits of single target earth/non entry with En-earth. Cmd1 is 4 hits of earth/wind damage with 2 turns of spellblade damage being boosted by 15%, and Cmd2 is the same 4 earth/wind hits but with self atk/res +30%. Guess what can be quadcast here as well? Bartz's BSB2! Which also appears again right here for all your spellblade needs.

Princess Sarisa gains another USB, this time dealing random wind/non ranged damage with imperil wind and atk/mag/mnd -50%. Her other imperil wind SSB also returns.

Dorgan gets a new BSB toy, with a party atk/def boost on entry and AoE imperil earth. Cmd1 is 4 hits earth/wind with a 2 turn spellblade damage boost, and Cmd2 is similar to Bartz's Cmd2 offering 3 hits of earth/wind and self atk/res +30%. Dorgan's original party atk/mag SSB also returns.

Galuf gets the scraps on Banner 1, having his Invincibility and crit fix SSB's both return.

    Banner 2:
Exdeath finally joins the upgraded "Grand Cross" club, even though hes the namesake here. His USB is a party mag/mnd boost with 6 AoE hits of dark/non damage and a Grand Cross effect. Cast those meltdowns!

His mag/res SSB also comes back. I'm sorry.

Not to be ignored in his event, Bartz's OSB shows up here just to make you excited about not pulling a 6* on banner 1.

Lot of good buff/debuff returns on the rest of the banner. Gogo has his BSB and Hastega/Boost/Faithga SSB return. Galuf's imperil fire BSB comes back. We also have more sheepmode for Krile and Beryl Serpent Full Breakdown BSB for Faris.

Those still looking for a FFV medica (me) can also find Lenna's Curaga + party res SSB.

    Legend Materias:
Banner 1 - Bartz: 10% chance to doublecast a spellblade ability twice.*
Banner 1 - Faris: Deal 3% additional damage to a target for every stat lowered. Boosted to 20% when all 5 are broken (atk/def/mag/res/mnd).

Banner 2 - Galuf: 25% chance to doublecast Monk abilities.
Banner 2 - Exdeath: Begin the fight with En-dark.

*Mechanically, Bartz's LM is a doublecast but it acts more like a chase. It essentially rolls to see if you follow up a spellblade ability with 2 additional spellblade ability uses. 3 spellblade ability uses will result.

    Carbuncle
    HP: Head: 130,543
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Carbuncle without being KO'ed.
    • Reduce Carbuncle's magic.

    Weak: All (without Reflect active)
    Absorb: None
    Resist: None
    Null: Earth (with Reflect active)

    Gilgamesh
    HP: 130,221
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Gilgamesh without being KO'ed.
    • Reduce Gilgamesh's attack.

    Weak: None
    Absorb: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Status Vulnerabilities: None

Notes:Carbuncle begins the fight with reflect active, and it cannot be dispelled. During the fight, he will drop reflect and become vulnerable to all elements. 100% magic based fight.

Gilgamesh can cause some status problems for newer players, namely sleep, confuse, and AoE blind. Ultra Cure or Esuna is suggested. Fight is 100% physical with some gravity damage for good measure.

Witch of the Interdimensional Forest ++
    Calofisteri
    HP: 178.432
    Target Score:
    • Reduce Calofisteri's magic.
    • Reduce Calofisteri's resistance.
    • Defeat Calofisteri before she uses Drain.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resists: Thunder
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: Blind

Notes: 100% magical fight, which also means Blind is useless.

You can cheese the fight by casting Carbuncle, which will result in Calofisteri only casting Protect, Shell, cura, Esuna, Regen, and Haste. She has no means to kill you otherwise.

    Second Challenge +++
    Odin
    HP: 198,000

    Weak: None

Thundaga (BLK: ST massive magical thunder)
Flare (BLK: ST supermassive magical non-element)
凶 Thundaga (NAT: AOE piercing magical thunder)

Counter Curaga (response to physical attacks; WHT: Self heal)

(Weak only) Firaga (BLK: AOE moderate magical fire)
(Weak only) 凶 Blizzaga (NAT: AOE piercing magical ice)

Notes and Strategies: Not an unfamiliar fight, as both of their worst tendencies occur in this fight.

Minotaur will randomly cast Holy, as well as an interrupt on it's death. Mind Breakdown can help mitigate that.

Omniscient counters physical hits with an AoE 9,999 heal. Pair with that, it has both piercing thunder and ice elemental attacks and an AoE fire spell at lower HP. Good news is that Omniscient is entirely magic based while Minotaur is physical sparing the Holy casts. Omniscient is weak to wind, so that can help a physical team still score some KO's while dealing with the counter cure.

    Recommended to kill Minotaur first.

    Evil Herb (U++)
    凶Dragon Pod (w/ Dragon Flower)
    HP: HP: Pod: 260,000 - Flower: 25,046
    Target Score:
    • Reduce a 凶Dragon Flower's magic.
    • Reduce a 凶Dragon Flower's defense.
    • Reduce the 凶Dragon Pod's defense.

    Weak: Earth, Dark

Poisonous Pollen (NAT: ST massive magical non-element, high chance to Poison)
Pollination (NAT: AOE moderate magical non-element)
    Attack (PHY: ST physical)

    Moveset (Lower Left Dragon Flower):
Paralyzing Pollen (NAT: ST very heavy magical non-element, low chance to Paralyze)
Paralyzing Pollen (NAT: ST very heavy magical non-element, medium chance to Paralyze)
Paralyzing Pollen (NAT: ST massive magical non-element, high chance to Paralyze)
Pollination (NAT: AOE moderate magical non-element)
    Attack (PHY: ST physical)

Notes and Strategies: The Dragon Pod itself does not attack, but you cannot damage it while any flowers are alive.

Token physical attacks from all the flowers, but otherwise a 100% magical fight.

It's really a status mitigation fight more than anything else. You can go full magic team, which eliminates the need to guard against Blind and Poison is generally an afterthought anyways. There are also no elemental resistances, and Titan + Ultima summons can take care of the flowers fairly easily.

Cid Mission: Breaking the trend in some recent 2+ target CM fights is the availability of a realm dancer in Faris. Only having to focus on magic mitigation allows Faris to bring either Multi Break or a damage/defensive break option.

The new Quake Strike ability may also be worth the quick hones, as Bartz can help clear flowers out with it.

Ultra Cure can let you deal with the status you can't mitigate entirely, though long-time players should have 4-5 paralyze or confuse resist accessories at this point.

    Fear of Death (Apocalypse +)
    滅Necrophobe (w/ Necrophobe Ward)
    HP: Necrophobe: 450,000* - Necrophobe Ward: 92,189
    Target Score:
    • Reduce 滅Necrophobe's magic.
    • Reduce 滅Necrophobe's defense.
    • Reduce a 滅Barrier's magic.

    Weak: Necrophobe: All (150%)
    Absorbs: None
Resist: Barrier: Ice, Thunder, Holy, Bio
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

*Gilgamesh will end the fight after depleting 400k of Necrophobe's HP.

    Moveset (Barriers):
    Attack (PHY: ST physical)
Holy (WHT: ST extremely heavy magical holy)
凶 Firaga (NAT: AOE piercing magical fire)
凶 Thundaga (NAT: AOE piercing magical thunder)
    Firaga (BLK: AOE magical fire)
Blizzaga (BLK: ST very heavy magical ice)
Thundaga (BLK: ST very heavy magical thunder)
Flare (BLK: ST massive magical non-element)
    Fira (BLK: ST magical fire)
Counter Blindga (response to resisted-element attacks; BLK: AOE blind, high chance)

    Moveset (Necrophobe):
(Barriers Alive only) Fira (BLK: ST magical fire)
    Attack (PHY: ST heavy physical)
Vacuum (PHY: ST very heavy physical, medium chance to Sap)
Hurricane (NAT: ST current HP % damage)
Flare (BLK: ST massive magical non-element)
Firaga (BLK: ST massive magical fire)
Blizzaga (BLK: ST massive magical ice)
Thundaga (BLK: ST massive magical thunder)

(Barriers Defeated only) 凶 Sap (NAT: AOE moderate magical non-element, high chance to Sap)
(Barriers Defeated only) 凶 Blizzaga (NAT: AOE piercing magical ice)

(Barriers Defeated, Weak/V Weak only) Firaja (BLK: AOE moderate magical fire)
(Barriers Defeated, Weak/V Weak only) Thundaja (BLK: AOE moderate magical thunder)

Notes and Strategies: Necrophobe is only targetable after the barriers are destroyed.

This fight can make good use of the Gigas Armlets and Necrophobe Ward, as there are no water spells to worry about.

Dancers are again the mitigation of choice, as the wards can deal some damage unless you mitigate them all at once.

Runic/GC can take a chunk out of this fights bite, but there are a few potent NAT spells that can be cast, so don't lean on it too hard.

Jump Start Notes: You have to chew through ~380k Ward HP before tackling Necrophobe's 400k. The good news is that Necrophobe will collapse pretty quickly under elemental team pressure once the wards are gone. Bringing a wall along with you for the first part of the fight may not be a bad idea, as again Celes or Exdeath can't mitigate all the spells. The good news is that bringing these will restock your Tornado/Quake Strikes and summon spells used to clear the wards out.

Not sure what you mean by the chase effect stacking with dualcast but chase only triggers once even if you proc a dualcast. At least this is what I remember from other chase effects, Bartz shouldn't be any different but he can triple cast with proper materia allocation.

I know I have done some napkin math for Bartz launching multiple w-casts With LM, LMR, and RM spellblade w-casts. Did the number crunching again.

    Doublecast: 43%
    Triplecast: 14%
    Quadcast: 4%
    Quintuple cast: 0.5%

Edit: Ahh, I see what you mean. I got confused because I was copy+pasting sections. Fixed.

Banner 1 is also a pretty great Earth/Water/Wind banner as well. Has 2x Wind Imperil, ATK/MAG Wind SSB with Wind Enhancement on the sword, 1x Earth Imperil + HoTE, En-Water BSB, En-Earth BSB, and Bartz Magicite Swiss Army Knife USB.

Edit: Plus we still don't know if/when they'll do the Element Super Fest for Magicite too.

Archaeoaevis can totally suck a dick. Beat 160 but 220 is so god damn hard, esp when he counter spams Sap before final form.

Edit: Beat it, won't be able to throw it up on Youtube till after Irma.

    Setup:
    Luneth 99: Lifesiphon R4 | Tornado Strike R2 | Sword +20% RM | En-Wind BSB
    Tyro 99: Magic Breakdown R4 | Affliction Break R2 | Mako Might | SG
    Ramza 99: Lifesiphon R5 | Full Break R3 | Dr. Mog's Teachings | Shout/Tailwind
    Lion 99: Lifesiphon R5 | Thief's Revenge R3 | Bow +20% RM | ATK/DEF BSB
    Y'shtola 99: Wrath R5 | Ultra Cure R4 | Ace Striker | BSB/SSB

    RW: Rikku USB

Went full out on first phase while Y'shtola built up full bar whenever she could wrath. Right as P2 was to begin I would throw up Y'sh SSB for the regen to get rid of Sap and then had Ramza ready Tailwind once P2 start so it gives me enough of a buffer for Y'sh to have enough time to throw up her BSB. Maintaining SS from her BSB helped in surviving subsequent Ultimate Maelstroms, although he did land one right when I landed the final blow with 3/5 of my party Sapped, so came a second away from failing Mastery.

Fuck this fight so much too btw.
