FFRK - The Photographer's Journey (XV) Event & Strategies

    [/video]

"Yeah, you're right. Make you appreciate how delicious these noodle really are" - Prompto
"Quittin' time. Sorry, but this girl doesn't work after hours." - Aranea

Fast friends with Noctis since they met as teenagers, Prompto is a young man of common birth who finds himself out of his depth when tragedy befalls Lucis. Nevertheless, he strives to carry more than his own weight, lightening his companions' burdens as well as their spirits.

A mercenary of the Imperial airborne division and granted the rank of "Commodore", Aranea is known known for captaining a distinct red aircraft as well as a squad of mercenaries. Even in hand-to-hand combat, she is most at home in the skies, wielding a magitek lance in dragoon-style aerial attacks.

    Event Start Date: September 12
    Event Bonus Battle: September 15
    Event End Date: September 22

All information is taken from a mixture of Reddit/Spreadsheets/Kongpakbao Site and my own obviously expert analysis.

Most info for the event comes from this site: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKee...zd&sh=e6a71f60

Though the information provided is used as a guideline and not always taken directly from the thread. When necessary, additional thoughts on Cid Missions and battle strategies are added.

    Characters Needed for Battles
Gladio ate all the cup noodle.

    Cid Missions
Complete Ultimate++ fight with a party of FFXV heroes.

    Relics
Only one banner this time, because Aranea only needs one banner.

Only thing better than a tsundere knight, is a tsundere dragoon. Theres also Prompto.

Even though this event is out of sequence, it continues the 3 LM format we should view as standard for a while.

    Banner 1:

Prompto is stuck in the Machinist rut. Good for in-realm use as a support, but kind of outclassed elsewhere. His USB is a 10x ranged thunder/non shot with standard imperil and a pseudo EX mode that shortcharges when a Machinist ability is used. His BSB is in the standarn vein of support characters, carrying an instant Atk/Def breakdown. His commands are a little different, however. Cmd1 is a 2 turn machinist shortcharge, while Cmd2 is an armor breakdown.

Following Mustadio, Prompto's SSB is a thunder flavored Heart Piercer with Pentabreak.

Aranea is Kain, but with the darkness element added in for some sass. Her OSB is a dark/thunder flavored attack that boosts damage if the target is weak to either element.

Her burst bring an en-thunder along for the party with 8 ST thunder/dark hits instead of the usual 6 AoE hits. Both her commands are *ranged*, with Cmd1 offering 2 CT0 jump charges and Cmd2 is a 4x attack that boosts Dragoon ability damage by 9% for 3 turns. Her preferred skill use is the opposite of Kains however, as Cmd2 -> Cmd1 -> Thunder Dive x2 is optimal. Get your hones in.

Her SSB is a lifesiphon-able party magic blink with some lightning/dark ST damage for flavor.

Returning are some fan favorites that can make this banner a big winner though.

Noctis' BSB returns, as does his highly more functional SSB party instantcast.

Additionally, Iris' Larsa/Yshtola hybrid BSB packs Astra, Stoneskin, and the standard instant/medica commands.

    Legend Materias:
Banner 1 - Prompto: 25% chance to doublecast Machinist abilities.
Banner 1 - Aranea: Begin the battle with en-thunder.
Banner 1 - Noctis: 25% chance to doublecast Combat abilities.

    Just one fight here.

Notes: Titan is all physical, but you'll have to rely on +def boosts to mitigate his damage as he is immune to physical breaks.

Devil of the Evil Eye ++
    Deadeye
    HP: 180,000
    Target Score:

Notes: Another 100% physical fight, and nothing fancy or special status wise to go along with it.

You start the fight with 2 soldiers and Aranea. Defeating a soldier will cause it to respawn once.

Only Aranea needs to be defeated to win.

    Ultimate + Apocalypse Battles

    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes and Strategies: There are 3 Sabertusk targets that spawn to start this 100% physical fight.

If one is defeated, you have 5 turns to clear the others before it respawns. Clear all 3 at once to win the fight.

Only dangerous attack is the piercing Ultimate Pounce. But even then, this is a pretty easy Ultimate.

    Crimson Stained Fangs(U++)

(Weak only) 凶 Tackle (PHY: ST 188% physical, 27% chance to Stun)

Notes and Strategies: Mixed mitigation finally needed, but you can also have people on the back row as none of his physical hits are ranged.

Little bit of a departure here, but his Weak phase is the most dangerous instead of Very Weak. All attacks in this phase carry the chance to stun and the AoE's chance to stun is 100%, so plan accordingly and burst through this phase ASAP. He can pile up the damage quick if our healer gets nipped with Stun.

Cid Mission: Not the most difficult of Ultimates, but if you have team members only at 65 you may run into some straight HP issues in the middle portion.

Tauntaliate is able to be used here if you need it.

As mentioned before, a lot of your difficulty here is likely due to character selection and level instead of fight difficulty. If you need to egg Glad or Iris up, this is a good time to do so.

    Awakening and Solitude (Apoc +)
    滅Adamantoise
    HP: Adamantoise Head: 500,000 - Arm: 150,000
    HP: JS Goddess: 507,830
    Target Score:

    Weak: Thunder
    Absorbs: None

    Moveset (Head):
(Default only) Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
    Headbutt (PHY: 3T 253% physical)
Confusing Roar (NAT: AOE 206% ranged physical, 15% chance to Confuse)
Roar (NAT: AOE 206% ranged physical, reduce attack by 30% for 20 seconds)
    Bite (PHY: ST 344% physical)

(Weak/V Weak/Critical only) Recovery (NAT: Self heal 50,000 HP)

    Moveset (Arms):
(Default only) Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Leg Attack (PHY: ST 266% physical)
Earthquake (NAT: AOE 198% magical earth)

Notes: The arm has a slightly worse than token earth magical attack, so you may want to bring Shell or slot a magic BD. Otherwise, the fight is entirely physical.

Roar can be a little bit of a pain, since its use is scripted on phase changes at 70% and 40% HP. If you're using Shout or Rikku USB for a RW, maybe try to get him to 70% before using it. Confusing Roar also carries a 15% chance to confuse.

Also, the first time the head dips below 70% HP you will have 5 turns to deal 100k damage or it will heal 50k HP.

Jump Start Notes: Not much different from the Apoc fight, and no stat changes either. Be mindful of removing Roar with a boostga so you don't run out of charges and charge on ahead.

Gonna throw this out there, but the FF15 renewel banner MIGHT be a better pull assuming it includes this, since it'll add Gladio relics and a shot at Noctis USB/OSB and Iris sexy double cast LMR.

It doesn't. The renewal banners only include relics released up to the previous XV event back in August so no Noctis USB or any relic from this banner.

If you were choosing between this banner and the Renewal one, it all depends on whose relics you want more - Noctis, Iris, Gladio, or Prompto, Aranea, and Noctis SSB.

If it's the original 3, wait for the renewal. If it's the latter, pull now.

The best renewal banners are I, II, and Type 0, which have the highest yield of decent relics (and even then, Type 0 will be the flat-out best since it only has three characters). XI would be the best realm if it weren't for the fact it isn't likely to contain the best bursts in the realm.

The renewals are no LMR right? I think I'll be holding off on non LMRs going forward.

Renewels are LMR/SSB+, so the FF15 renewel draw will have Noctis/Gladio/Iris LMR.

That was my JP account's 50 pull when first type 0 event came out...... Thankfully now in JP we have a self instant jump 3 hit wind ability which makes Nine LMR and enwind more useful.

Are you sure? V's renewal doesn't list faris epaulets or other LMR gear does it?

Chicken Knife banner wasn't part of the Renewal pool.

If the XV Gladio/Iris intro banner was cutoff of the renewal pools, then the XV LMRs will be on there. It's pretty much a re-issue of that event's banner. It's an odd banner that it's missing the typical 1% SSB slot, but does have Noctis SSB at 2%.

Oh OK so they're drawing on the actual banners for the renewal pools?
EDIT: Never mind, I see. If there's LMRs I'll give it a thought for doublecast combat on noctis.
