so apparently after the cavs beat the T-Wolves in that wild game last week it was only the second time all year they had beaten a top 6 team (in either conference), the first being the opener against the Celts. Since the trade they've doubled that number. Go Bron go
apparently LMA and Horford were the last two picks of the all star draft
Holy fucking hell, Fergie is butchering the National Anthem.
rembert tweeting something along the lines of "Fergie is so woke her voice to a knee for the anthem". I couldn't even watch the whole thing cuz it was so cringe.
Anyway, this game rules. East prob could have ended it quicker if they went with Anthony Davis instead of Russ in the final minutes.
That was actually a quality game. New format worked out well
Made them play defense because they actually had something to play for.
Also Adam Silver floated the idea of a new playoff format where they take the top 8 teams from the West and East, then rank them 1-16 where 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, and so on. He said that the biggest hurdle for such a system and the reason why the playoffs stay within a conference until the finals is due to travel. If they did pull this off I can see the NBA adding more weeks to the post season or setting up 4-8 venues to host the playoffs to help cut down on travel.
I think 1-16 single elimination seeding only works if all the teams play each other an equal amount of times, compared to how the conferences play within themselves more frequently right now. While we all know the west is stronger, it's hard to correctly adjust for that artificially in seeding.
Come on sports you can do it!
They could always do a 4 group format after seeding 1-16 where each team within the group plays each other once and the top two teams move on.
this Mavericks story is some shit
https://www.google.com/amp/amp.si.co...cuban-response
Starts with this anecdote:
Man, there are "creeps" and there are HUGE FUCKING CREEPS. That's really damning on Cuban to let that go unchecked.deep inside the American Airlines Center, a recently–hired Mavericks support staff employee was eating dinner in the media dining room. As the woman sat down, the team president and CEO, Terdema Ussery, asked if he could join her. She grew nervous, not because Ussery was her boss’s boss, or because he was one of the most prominent figures in the Dallas sportscape. It was because his reputation as a serial sexual harasser of women preceded him.
At this meal, with ESPN crew members seated nearby, Ussery struck up an unusual conversation. As the woman recalls the exchange, Ussery claimed that he knew what she was going to do over the coming weekend. When the woman asked, confusedly, what Ussery meant, he smiled.
“You’re going to get gang-banged,” he asserted, “aren’t you?”
“No,” the woman responded, caught off-guard. “Actually, I’m going to the movies with friends.”
“No,” Ussery insisted. “You’re definitely getting gang-banged.”
