Least it’s another show I can cross off my watch list finally
Tom Payne (Jesus) confirmed in an interview there is an 18 month time jump from the end of season 8 to the start of season 9.
Anyone watching this season?
With Gimple gone the writing seems to have gotten better again.
I still am, and I have to agree...I find myself (almost) enjoying The Walking Dead again. The scene in the 2nd episode where the guy in jail tells his story to Maggie was really well done, and it really made me feel for the guy. I have no idea where they are going with this season though.
The writing is way better. That random character's death setting off that chain of events leading to Gregory's demise, and desecrating Glenn's grave was a hit to anyone who misses that character. I agree that old man's redemption was also written well. Good scene with him and Maggie in jail. Aside from Rick sparing Negan, I feel character deaths will have more impact on this show instead of feeling like a cheap grab for ratings.
I realize they're still hyping up Rick's final episodes, but he chose to leave so that's out of the writers hands.

I haven't been loving it exactly, but I am definitely more interested this season than I was the last couple. I've at least been watching the episodes actively rather than multi-tasking.
I'm very curious about the helicopter people.
Will be curious how they get both Rick and Maggie out of the picture in the next few episodes without killing either one, which I believe they said they were not going to do to either.
Just saw Sunday's episode. Was good up until the Oceanside shit. I feel Maggie's revolt against Rick's rules will all lead to

I'm not sure about Jadis and the helicopter. That's AMC's wild card that I don't think was in the comics. There's speculation that Rick will be the "A" that she gives to her contact. He was trapped in a container marked "A" when she first captured him.

Just finished season 8, are they going the civil war route? Not sure if I want to bother watching the six episodes until the actors are gone. Season 8 was enjoyable, albeit riddled with dumb decisions and characters, but the scene with Maggie, Daryl and Jesus kind of killed the faith in the series I had left if that's where they're actually headed.
Well, is tonight the night or are they going to drag this shit out for 3 or 4 episodes?
Tonight is supposed to be the night.
Well, I'd like to see ol Ricky Grimes wriggle his way out of THIS jam!
I really wanted Rick to go out swinging khorne berserker style vs a horde, face half chewed off, with an axe in each hand.
I dont think I'm going to get that wish
You're not.
We'll see how this goes tonight. Maybe it'll reinvigorate my interest in the show with how they handle things, or maybe it'll just push me to just cancel the recording. The problem is that there are so few characters/things that I feel like bothering tuning in for, which is why this show has kind of become a "turn the recording on, keep going about my business" show.
It seems to have at least leveled off after freefalling during the everlasting "all out war", but that time jump and transition into this season didn't really help. Too many people that I didn't really care that much about and now they're probably key characters. Plus the new ones and I have to ask myself if they're someone new or someone whom I just didn't pay attention to before.
