This. Submissions ended 1 month before Cuphead came out and people on speed run reddit were making a big stink about it even though that's how its been for years. Also its not like it and super Mario Odyssey won't be appearing SGDQ 2018.

There was a lot of community drama over that. BoTW was within submissions time frame, but most of the major runners made an agreement to NOT submit a run to SGDQ since BoTW wasn't "refined" yet as a speed run.

They even got a major runner who already submitted a run to back out. Then right as admissions were coming to a close, Orcastraw snuck in any% and thus pissed off BoTW community, even though the community agreement was stupid to begin with.

Short version;

went to the mods of AGDQ and had them ban an emote named DanSexy; a well loved twitch streamer with an emote of his face in a wig; want to say it was an emote he made for charity. Proto took offense with it and AGDQ bent over and banned it. Eventually it got to the point that every time they were on screen, the mods turned chat into emote only. no talking.

So proto got butthurt and his safe space invaded by imaginary bad people, bitched and got his way, now GDQ kind of bows down to them.

Yeah. then gloated on twitter afterward that he got the emote banned. Huge piece of shit. I'm all for stopping harassment, but you put yourself in front of 100k+ people, you don't get to decide how they should act or treat you, the world isn't your safe space. I have no idea why they were allowed to come back after the drama.

Missed the part where they talked shit on dansgaming and called him a transphobe/homophobe/etc. for having the emote when in reality they had no evidence to say any of those things, lol. I didn't even know who dansgaming was before this happened, but it caused me to look into it and the dude seems like a good guy all around.

Also missed the part that he was telling his discord to put a special hashtag in front of the donation messages so he can only read those, and no one else’s. Caused some major heat.

Not necessarily. He took it that way because hey, gotta look for ways to be a victim, right? Then trolls smelled blood in the water and ran with it. It was absolutely not offensive in any way; it was an emote of a skit Dan did for a charity stream. Proto just jumped to conclusions that he was being victimized, then lashed out on social media at Dan.

edit: I should mention that the heat got so bad that the YouTube vids where Proto shows up all have comments disabled. Look up the Dark souls run. No comment section. GDQ really handled it poorly, and seeing as that Proto is welcomed back, are going to continue to handle it poorly.

I google search the donation shit and found a reddit comment that talked about being in disgust because protogirl kissed another trans person. lol.
