Cameron has been busy working on the next four installments of “Avatar,”

"next four"? As in 5 total? I'd heard at first there was going to be 4 total and thought that was being a bit presumptuous, but yeah, looking now there is a listing for a 5th on imdb...

2nd in 2020, then 2021, 2024 and 2025. So part 4 and 5 are going to be 3yrs+ after part 3...

Also kinda makes his salt about "Avenger fatigue" a bit hypocritical. "come on guys, there are other stories to tell" indeed.

Not if it's in the same universe but different setting. Their is lots to explore with the avatar tech, if they can get away from the blue Pocahontas. Admittedly though, how good could this universe be without the blue aliens? How good can this movie series be with nothing but blue aliens and no real "avatar" shenanigans going on? Guess we find out in 2 years...

James Cameron provided his Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger with an update on the Avatar sequels during a recent chat for the 2020 Austrian World Summit. Speaking by video conference from New Zealand, Cameron said, “We’re 100% complete on Avatar 2 and sort of 95% complete on Avatar 3.” He added that the team is currently working on shooting the remainder of the live action.
Cameron explained that the production lost “about four and a half months” owing to COVID-19, which “hit us like it hit everybody, it hit us hard.” Avatar 2’s release, as previously announced, “rolled around a full year” because of the pandemic lockdowns, Cameron added. In July, Disney moved all the Avatar sequels, setting Avatar 2 on December 16, 2022 and Avatar 3 on December 20, 2024. The fourth and fifth pictures are due in 2026 and 2028.
