At this point I'm holding out hope for Kylo and the Knights of Ren being the big baddies. The Knights were shown in TFW and hinted at again when Luke says Kylo left with a bunch of students after killing the rest. But otherwise we've seen/heard nothing about them

Hux was just a terrible beta cuck this entire movie lol

Confrontation in the hut of Luke/Kylo is definitely "not what it seems" from what you are first shown.

Legends are never "what they seem," this is both Finn being worshiped as a legend before he's about to desert and the legend of Luke Skywalker as he's turned from the force (you could say "grouchy old mentors" are never what they seem in general (ie Yoda in ESB/RotJ))

The hole giving Rey an answer was not what what she expected

Kylo/Rey's visions of each other was not what it seemed

Kylo about to kill Rey was not what it seemed

B del T's entire character (bum who can code break, selling out instead of helping)

The evacuation plan

There being "only one way in and out" of the salt base

Luke's literal force projection

I could likely go on if I sat and thought about it more.

None of this gives any reason not to believe what we were told about Rey's parents.

I agree. If you ignore the Emperor's character development in the prequels, he was given just about as much explanation in the original trilogy as Snoke has been given in this one. I wouldn't be surprised if we got more Snoke stuff in either canon non-movie stuff, or maybe even in one of the side-story movies

I feel like most of the people that are bitching are the ones who 1) read the books or 2) had this image of Luke as an unstoppable force and ignored the Plinkett reviews.

Cause it wasn't a good movie? It was poorly written with unnecessary comedy sequences, awful pacing, and a large number of downright useless plot points (literally anything involving the Poe/Finn/Rose plot line)

There's people who think the DC movies are amazing and can't understand why people hate on them. That mindset has now just spread to the legions of Star Wars fanboys.

I disagree with both of you quite strongly. But at the same time, I also realize that taking the time and effort to type out why is pointless because people want to see and think what they want and trying to convince either of you otherwise isn't worth the effort since regardless of what I write, you'll disagree.

I don't get how you think this movie can't be bad or disliked in some peoples views. The reviews for this are hilarious, Disney pays people off so well. From my point of view it sucked. Totally disgraced the original characters in favor of new young ones and the amount of PC in this movie makes me roll my eyes. The comedy was way forced in a few scenes, the background story for everything was terrible. I was expecting Snoke to pull himself together and laugh, instead he dies just like that lol. The whole movie I was sitting there trying to force myself to like it but I really couldn't. You also can't compare this to the old trilogy, movie making and storytelling has come a long way and you can't expect the same standard.

Rian Johnson was woefully unprepared for a film this big. I can only imagine how much better this would have been, if JJ had been in for the entire 3.
