Wife had never seen Not Another Teenage Movie. I also hadn't watched it in like 15 years. Its still as funny as I remember it. Also, fun fact, the topless chick in the movie, she went on to be a Yellow Power Ranger. Also, seeing a young Captain America with a Banana in his ass is fucking awesome.

My girlfriend and I ended up watching The Platform on Saturday, almost by accident; it was in the Netflix clue, and I remembered someone recommending it in this thread, so I hit play, and 90 minutes later... We both felt it was worth a watch, and it's definitely not a movie she would normally watch. But we did talk about it for a while afterwards, trying to figure out the logistics of it and how we were expecting it would end vs how it did end.

If you like Cube, it's got a whole lot in common with that film. Obviously.

I also watched Extraction last night. The camera work on the chase scene was insane. Had a very John Wick feel to it.

Watched Austin Powers Goldmember. Holy fuck, I forgot how hilarious and how meta this movie was. As someone who despises Austin Powers 1 and 2(Names Randy, I was in Highschool when they were released. I had 4 years of "Do I make you Randy). Goldmember, was, no pun intended, pure gold. Plus, it was before Mike Meyers stuck to his Shrek Voice.

I got an Alfred Hitchcock DVD boxed set a few years ago, and we're working through it now. Just watched North by Northwest, it was probably my favorite of the Hitchcock films we've watched so far, assuming you can get past the fact the movie is 61 years old.

Saw amazon's The Vast of Night. And oh boy, don't expect much. It's a boring coma inducing low budget flick. Basically two people trying to figure out what this unknown signal is. Who knows, you might like it. However, if you wanna watch a movie about a signal but like a billion x more interesting, watch Contact instead.

I second this. Reviewers on YouTube praising it, got me interested in it. Boy does this movie love zooming the camera low to the ground.

A better movie that doesn't show the thing that goes bump in the night till the end is Dark Skies.

I really enjoyed Dark Skies. A great example of characters not making dumb horror movie decisions.

The Vast of Night has some of the most impressive long-take camerawork I've ever seen and the most impressive long-take performance I've ever seen (the switchboard shot). That being said, the technical mastery is torpedoed by the low-contrast, desaturated 1950s TV color correction so the whole movie kinda looks like shit. Baffling choice. Story was interesting enough, it's a unique real-time experience.

Its basically a shallow technical showpeice that goes nowhere. The flying camera take when they used the go karts and stiched it all together was amazing. The fast talking 50s style with everyone talking over each other was annoying after the first few min. The switchboard imo was just too long.

I absolutely love this movie. And it has Samara Weaving who is becoming one of my favorite actresses.
