I like robots and ai, but did not like Archive one bit.
Anyway, finally saw a couple from my cosmic horror list:
In the Mouth of Madness - There's a lot of wtf moments and its basically Sam Neil going bonkers for two hours. Some of the animatronics are kinda wonky, but it was a good time.
The Endless - For the low budget, these guys put a hellaluv of effort. It has a interesting concept and they did a pretty good job (even with the aforementioned limitations). Lots of talking with little things thrown in here and there to keep you wondering.
Between this and Event Horizon, Sam Neill had a bit of a Lovecraftian period. In the Mouth of Madness was basically the love child of HP Lovecraft and Steven King. I enjoyed it quite a bit, although (as you said) they probably could have left a little more to the imagination than they did.
Now that you mention it, I might as well check out Prince of Darkness to complete King's trilogy. Also, I heard a few weeks ago Guillermo del Toro is hellbent on adapting AtMoM. The dude's been trynna for a decade lol.
Prince of Darkness is a fave.
What's it got to do with King though?
That movie created the fire of love for those types of movies. Before Man From Earth, I never thought of those types of movies. Now, I've seen Man From Earth atleast several hundred times. Its just so god damn good. Shame the sequel wasn't as good.
Oh, another movie similar to that.
Moon. Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey(Just his voice so its not as awkward).
Just got the wife to watch Endless. She used to fight my movie choices but now shes 100% onboard. after I showed her It Follows and Triangle, she has never questioned or fought one of my choices since. They both have become her all time favorite movies.
Now...if i could just get her into anime. All would be complete
Not King, Carpenter. The movie was pretty fucking nuts. It was also cool to see some of the actors from Big Trouble in Little China (another balls to the wall amazing flick that ya'll prolly seen, who hasnt?) play roles in the movie. It's a godamn shame Carpenter went downhill after Ghost of Mars.
First, watched 1982s The Thing. First time my wife has ever saw it. Its up there as one of my favorite movies. She absolutely loved it.
Second, just started watching "The Boys", kind of a fucked up Super Hero mood lately. But really this show reminds me of another one called "Powers" and I really liked it.
Can't wait for new season of Lucifer and Umbrella Academy.
Caught Vivarium, which is a weird little Amazon Prime film that I guess you could put in The Cube / The Platform genre. While I didn't think too terribly much of it when I watched it Saturday night, my mind keeps coming back to it and thinking about the What If's.
I think the movie might be better without the trailer, but in case you're curious...
I never saw The Cube but I found both Vivarium and The Platform really bland when I watched them. Both could've been good but neither really went anywhere
Host
It’s on amazon prime. Fantastic.
Old, but in case they flew under.

I’ve been on an Anton Yelchin kick. I’m amazed at how good of an actor he was and how physical he was, despite having Cystic Fibrosis.
But I highly recommend
Charlie Bartlet, great movie. Also stars RDJ.
I personally liked him in Fright Night
He was great in Star Trek
Wife and I just watched Odd Thomas and it was really really good.
I have Rememory and Green Room on my list for his next movies to watch.
Coincidentally I’ve been watching Tales of Arcadia: Trollhunter on Netflix with him voicing the main character. I can highly recommend watching that as well if you have access.
Green Room is great
yee scope Blue Ruin if you haven't yet, same director, similar feel, outstanding film.
