Buy it, that's a terrific deal. Steam doesn't add anything. The game is finished.

Just bought it. Flipping 83GB download!
Yes, games are big.
Oh hmm good point Steam took care of that for me. It's called the 4k resolution pack, but it does open up graphic changes that will make even 1080p look better. I'd be surprised if the site you got it from doesn't offer it.
For PS4 users, Royal Edition is $25 on PSN right now, and the Royal Pack is $10.50 if you already have the base game.
So the texture pack is another 65.13GB. Easily the largest game I have. The Division or Ghost Recon Wildlands is probably second and those are around 60 or so. Only thing I don't like is the folders for the game are not accessible. It's saying I don't have permission and I can't change permissions as the folder is saying "This access control entry is corrupt. Delete it and create a new one." The principle folder is Trusted Installer. So annoying.
Does the Royal Pack upgrade grant you the DLC from the first season pass? PS4 store has a sale with it down to $10, but it doesn't specify if you get that DLC. Just mentions the Royal Edition content and features. I never bought the season pass. Knowing that more DLC is still coming, I'll prolly just hold off until it's all done and buy whatever Royal Complete Ultimate Edition they release then.
Yes.
Currently 50% off at 24.99 for Windows edition via steam summer sale.
Is this the cheapest its been and worth buying or should I wait a little longer?
Considering they are doing a whole other season of DLC and you've waited this long, I'd say hold out a bit longer.
I bought the game at launch, enjoyed it for what it was, then sold it. Before all the improvements. After they release the Princely Super Mega Royal Edition next year with all this content, then I'll pick it up again, used or something.
Agree, wait another year.
I'm sick of the game constantly changing (per patch/DLC) and feeling the need to go replay it. After finishing the base game, and noticing that they keep adjusting/fixing/improving the game in bits, I got frustrated. Then Royal Edition came, which made me feel worst.
Now I just want them to finish it during 2019 and play the definitive edition at the end of it.
I'm going to replay it one more time when the content is all out... each time I get closer to actually completing everything...lol
I wonder if there's ever going to be a "complete edition" though or if they're just going to continue adding shit forever to keep squeezing money out of it. I suspect there are enough rabid yaoi fangirls alone to keep the game afloat for another 3 years at least.
I haven't played since I finished the base game, by the time this is finished I'll finally get a real FF game.
I'm on chapter 13 I think, I picked it up when the PC edition popped. I tried to play the DLC as the relevant chapters popped, but. I'm just not feeling it this time. dlc dlc dlc and knowing that there's more stuff that changes the main story coming I just can't be arsed. I generally don't pick up DLC packages at all unless they are significant (like some of the Witcher stuff). I think FFXV finally broke my 20 year love affair with final fantasy game :/
I am forced to realise, I'm getting old and grumpy, "when I was young, we got completed games when we bought them, and expansion packs were usually massive"
I don't think you're old for thinking that, it's just what people have come to accept because devs are lazy and/or cannot cut enough corners to get in the extra content and/pr corporate has them push an unfinished product with the promise of dlcs to fix and add to what was the original vision of the game.
