So on one hand, yeah all the DLC are little micro-transactions that are fully intended to line SE's pockets with money. But on the other, I really do think Tabata and whatever crew he has left to work on the game are genuinely trying to put their best foot forward and make worthwhile content with whatever limited team they have.

So while the constant DLC spew is annoying, given what we've received so far, I don't mind paying a few more dollars if the quality of the DLC keeps getting better like how the Gladio DLC was kind of meh but then Prompto was way better and apparently Ignis is fucking awesome.
    These are my exact sentiments.

The switch to 60 as the base price happened during the PS2 era iirc, tho we obviously saw it with certain games before that (looking at you Earthbound)

cartridge stuff routinely went over $50 during the SNES/N64 days. the $50 price was pretty standard for the major CD/DVD based platforms all through the PS2 era, and once X360 landed, microsoft went up to $60. PS3 followed suit with the corresponding price bump the following year, but nintendo held out at $50 for wii games.

i can't remember any normal PS2 releases that landed at $60, barring special cases like peripheral or multigame bundle games (e.g., time crisis, guitar hero, growlanser collection, etc.). i could be wrong on that, but i unfortunately worked in retail for most of the PS2/GC/XB era so i have a somewhat intact recollection of that period.

Many of Square's SNES titles - at least FF3 and Chrono Trigger - retailed for $80 new back in the day. That's upwards of $130 today, adjusted for inflation.

PC version currently pre-orderable on GMG for $30. -$10 for putting it in the cart for whatever reason and -$10 for using the code 25OFFFFXV

So why does a $10 off code end up with the tag of "25 Off FFXV"?

It is neither 25 bucks off nor 25% off.

Oh, it sounded like it started at 30 and then was brought down to $10 with both discounts.

We have the same CPU, except I have 1 GPU underneath you. I can't believe even at 1080p a Ti only scored Very High and not Extremely.

I'm now looking at my 1080 with some sort of disappointment lol

Although in real usage scenarios, I think it shouldn't matter that much.

This game is an outlier. Probably due to SE's overabundant use of particle effects and shaders. Definitely wasn't expecting XV to be the port of the century myself, I'm actually surprised at how well it runs all told.

I have a 1440p display so my performance:fidelity should be satisfactory.

Well square is using such buzz phrases as "rebuilt from the ground up for the platform" and "made a generation ahead" so likely the game is just very poorly optimized to take advantage of PC hardware and they're hoping the next major cycle of GPU to bring things to stable 60fps experience.

Gamer Nexus breaks down the benchmark and gives us a pretty good understanding why it is such a clunky mess for a lot of people with relatively older hardware.

I have to laugh.. this benchmark did so poorly on my system and I thought I have a decent rig. But I'm old and the "time flies" thing is so true. I have a GTX 680 which was the best I could get at the time. I just looked it up and it came out in 2012 (and found my receipt yup 2012)

I bow the the PC master race, but ffxv looks fine on my PS4. (or that just could be my old-age eye site)

This game should honestly run fine on a 680 but because its rendering buffalo with hairworks that you cannot see to give it some artificial difficulty to play the experience isn't too pleasing for most.

Honestly a lot of things such as hair works and turf works could be turned off and you would probably not notice much of a change in the world of the game. Also yeah.. I wont be buying this myself either, did my time on PS4, nothing special about the PC release other than some more graffix so fuck it.

We wanted the benchmark tool to approximate the level of visual quality and performance you can expect from your PC environment when running FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION.
A Level Of Detail (LOD) issue has been discovered that affects the benchmark scores.

The benchmark also suffers from stuttering; both of the issues will be addressed in the shipping game.
While the settings in the benchmark are largely pre-selected for simplicity’s sake, the final game will feature highly customizable settings with On/Off options... (1/2)

... for a wide variety of settings.
The benchmark will give you an idea of how beautiful the game will be upon release, but for the reasons stated above, the benchmark may not accurately reflect the game’s final performance. (2/2)
