I've decided I'm not going to pick this up. I've come to the conclusion all this is is just a lazy money grab. They changed too little and expect too much money.

I'm with you completely and I expected better overall.

Renewed PVP is nice but if I want Dark Souls PVP I'll play 2.

Possibly on 4K where the frame drops happen, feels a little odd this would happen on 1080p. I haven’t seen the vid either way.

Playing through DS3 for my first time right now. Moving into a new home where I'll have Cox instead of Comcast and I'll be picking this up for PS4 so I can actually multiplayer after that.

6 Man PVP and some rebalancing from what I know. Unsure how the weapon level balancing works at the moment.

Remaster is a no go for me. Watched some reviews and I can spend the money better elsewhere since I have PTDE. Mythe, are you playing 3 on PC? I'm trying to slog through it but for some reason it just isn't clicking like the others.

There is no rebalancing, unless you mean certain things are worse in pvp because of dead angles being removed (great scythe, wrath of gods, etc). AFAIK the only real differences besides that are:

-60 fps and higher resolution (compared to old console and no dsfix pc)
-many graphic effect changes (I think they mostly look worse), and the lighting took a huge downgrade for some reason.
-multiplayer player cap changed from 4 to 6 (with dried finger)
-bonfire added near undead blacksmith
-invaders can use estus (half quantity), humanity and hidden blessing are disabled during invasions for everyone.
-can change covenants at bonfires
-the pvp arena that everybody ignored from the old game has new modes.

For some reason a lot of sites claimed the multiplayer now uses dedicated servers, maybe it does for the arena (I doubt it), but it does not for co-op/invasions, still p2p. I think all they did was change the way the matchmaking/message servers work, to be a regional or global thing like the other souls games, rather than being stuck in a small, random cluster of players every time you zoned or logged in.

TLDR: Don't buy it unless you don't have access to the old game, or you really want to do some awful dks1 pvp.

Playing souls on handheld switch sounds awkward as fuck to me (especially trying to control the camera while using face buttons), but maybe I'm just terrible with it.

I have PS3, PS4, and a 360 controller and yes I think PS4 is best. I didn't even know about Souls until my nephew brought over his 360 with it. Thought it looked cool but saw how shit it looked and of course 30fps and bought PC version immediately. Shit, even after playing Souls on PC it's rough to then play Bloodborne.

It’s been a heck of a lot of fun for invasions. I’ve been just trolling people left and right in send fortress and blight town as well as the first before sif. Just great times all around.
