And yet the Panthers signed PJ Walker.

XFL is dead now apparently, not coming back
God damn, Vince actually somewhat gets it right, appears to have had a semi entertaining product, and COVID-19 kills it. Teach him to go over God in a wrestling match.
Damn that sucks. It was actually pretty entertaining for what it was. I thought they supposedly had enough money to burn for at least 3 seasons?
NFL created Covid

According to ESPN, Easter weekend was set to be the end of the regular season. The league promised to pay their employees through the end of the regular season when the season had been suspended. Also, none of the execs are being let go.
I get to make another XFL is back thread next year, as is tradition.
For real though this fucking sucks. Best believe the NFL is gonna adopt some of the XFL’s rules in the coming years though after getting to see them in action.
XFL died again, just to bring us back Wrestlemania though, so silver lining?
I'd rather have the XFL.
That's why I said silver lining, something positive came out of a negative you didn't want.
Filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
Man God really does not want a second pro football league.

Most people forgot the first XFL run and thought this would be different. Lmao

This was an actual good product unlike the first time around.
If there wasn't a global pandemic it's entirely possible this one was here to stay.
What happened to funding for 3 seasons regardless of turning a profit?
this is my question. vince did say he was funding this for 3 years no matter what; i know they are losing a bit of revenue from attendance and whatnot, which is small potatoes to whatever their tv contract is im sure (i am not looking any of this up, im not sure if/what they are losing from this)
anyway i don’t know where i was going with this
Vince was paying for his tv time on the networks out of pocket with the idea that after the first two or three seasons he would have fan base installed and ratings to justify a TV deal. When it became clear he was not going to be able to have games played again until at least 2022 he decided to pull the plug entirely.
Interesting to note in the XFL bankruptcy filings, it was revealed that WWE has a 23% ownership stake in the company. That is, WWE the company, not Vince McMahon personally. This reveals that Vince has been lying about his 100% ownership of the league from the jump and could open him to legal recourse from WWE stockholders, one of whom sued the company last year on fears that WWE’s finances were being mishandled by investing in the XFL, despite McMahon saying that wasn’t the case at the time.
Sleazy billionaire wrestling promoter can’t be trusted? Say it ain’t so.
lol
