Perds 7 - Tiburones 1; god we look fucking good this year

Trade call between NYR and NJD — first one ever, correct? — is happening shortly. NJ sends its own 2018 2nd-round pick and Igor Rykov to NYR for Michael Grabner.
Rinaldo is a piece of shit. But this isn't news.
Third post in a row, but should be noted that Matthew Tkachuk has as many goals as Steven Stamkos. He's like top 5 in the league in goals since his most recent suspension and in that time still has drawn the most penalties in the league. Kid is having a phenomenal season.
So Gold Medal is gonna be Germany vs Russia lol
whoa whoa whoa buddy, it's Olympic Athletes from Russia (who probably aren't cheating, or just haven't been caught yet).
Auston Matthews listed as day to day with a shoulder injury.
Brassard from Ottawa to Pittsburgh. Ottawa gets Ian Cole, Gustavsson and 2018 1st round pick
I am on the fence about this trade.
I don't care about the 1st or Gustavsson. The Pens will be rebuilding in 3 - 5 years once Sid & Geno retire. So burning the farm system now is the right thing to do. But losing Cole hurts because of how solid he has been.
Get to go see the Young Caps tonight including Walker, Boyd, Hobbs, Johansen, Barber, O'brien, Bau, Copley, and Siegenthaler!
Oh damn, looking at the roster, I forgot Peluso, Ness, and Graovac were there
It's been a pretty solid year for each team and the playoffs are going to be insane in the East.
This TDL may be one of the most exciting ones in advert long time with Pittsburg, Toronto, Boston and Tampa all trying to load up. If Yzerman manages to get Karlsson with picks and prospects only..that would be a trade to remember.
Crosby and Malkin are 30 and 31 respectively, you have a good 6 or 7 years of them left at least barring any injuries. Even when they 'regress', they'll still be putting up like 80 points each lol. I could see Malkin leaving for the KHL when he's 35+ given he's already won a bunch of cups. And if he stays healthy, I could easily see Crosby playing over 40 and still being effective too, akin to Jagr
The trade is apparently stupid complicated and actually involves Vegas too, as well as a bunch of cap retention shenanigans
Hold your horses people:
Hearing @NHL has rejected the Brassard trade unless @penguins @Senators @GoldenKnights can restructure the trade to leagues satisfaction.

I really don't think Toronto is going to make any big moves at the deadline, or at least not any big acquisitions. Defenseman are going for way too much and we have a couple in the minors who are looking good (Lilijgren particularly) and while a 4th line centre would be nice we've been getting by well enough Moore for now.
In the face of the rest of the conference loading up, it doesn't make much sense for the Leafs to try to keep up that way. We have a lot of the parts we need, they just need a little more time.
