    Audio headset jack question

so I want to use my earbuds/ in line mic instead of my usb headset now but the cord on the earbuds is too short to use with my PC.

I bought an extension cable from amazon and the pc acts like the microphone isnt plugged in now so I just noticed the extender only has 3 bands and the headset has 4.. so what is this shit called and how do I search for an extension cable that will keep the microphone working?

Something like this should do the trick:

That might work but now there is a constant static noise in the earbuds, I changed from realtek audio to high definition audio and it went away briefly and then came back

I feel like I tried this before and the constant soft static with anything plugged into the headphone jacks instead of a usb was reason enough to use a usb headset

I dont want to go bald from this logitech headset though Q.Q

I assume that your PC case has a front set of inputs that you're using? If so, then the audio jacks on the front panels of many PC cases are notorious for having poor shielding and/or grounding that leads to static interference being resonated through the jacks. Your mobo most likely has a set of jacks on it directly, so try those in the back of the case and see if it's any better.

the jacks on the backside of the pc worked much better without static but the in-line microphone is apparently shit on these earbuds (who would have guessed) q.q I need to look into a standalone mic I think
