I'm loving everything about this arc except Vegeta getting Vegeta'd and Gohan continuing to just be the best of the worthless guys. But thats more a complaint of Dragon Ball as a whole and not this arc lol.

Has Whis ever intervened before in the manga? I know he reversed time and restored Earth in the Frieza movie but not sure if that’s canon with the manga.
Almost positive that happens in the manga as well. I hate that there are like, 3 canons for super now, between the anime, the movies, and the manga.
Mannn I jumped off super after the anime finished but it seems I gotta get into the manga

Still waiting for the anime to come back
Moro turning into the best villain of Super, though I hate that he had a secret power up form like a DBZ villain. At least they didn't just sit there and let him transform like back in the day.
It was just too much fun watching a new episode every week live or within an hour or two along with all those homies in stadiums.
Chapter 63 is out: https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/drago...84?action=read
No surprised, but LLLAAAAMMMMMEEEEEE again lol
Always with the pushes equaling loss. In every manga. I want to see a series with varied pushes. Greed, lust,, spite, love; whatever. Anything other than constant loss or tragedy.
Seems like UI is going to take over as the new default SSJ by this logic. Its the Freeza saga all over again, and since Vegeta was knocked cold, he can't abuse the same push to give him a stronger form, lol.
The scales are balanced once more. Goku shines above all others, and the rest are mere food for his banquet.
Yeah its a shame. Goku showing up to fight first while Vegeta kept training gave us that fucking tease. But as soon as we saw Goku hadn't mastered UI yet, we all knew exactly how this would go down.
Is it Toriyama? Is it Toei? Is it the editors? Is it Toyotaru wanting to stay the course?
I’m more surprised Beerus didn’t intervene if he was so scared of being scolded by the grand priest for losing an angel. That would’ve been a hell of a lot more interesting.
As far as I know he’s not restricted by the same rules as the angels so just wipe out the threat and be done with it lol. He routinely threatens to kill everyone all the time and yet doesn’t the one time it actually matters to him.
Spoiler: show
Thanks Rata, I thought chapter comes out 20th of each month, that's when I usually check anyway
Also me:
when the job wasn't being finished and 20 pages were left.
I also like how Jaco said "new colour in my book" - I realised he was never at the tournament so this was his first time seeing it!
edit: LOL I just clicked on BWYuko's spoiler and I guess he also felt the same at some capacity....
edit2: i enjoy it regardless but again this is a lammmeeeeee chapter
edit3: I'm really disappointed this arc didn't use/explore/involve Broly and Freeza with the temporary intergalactic we had going on unless we got a super twist coming, but it feels unlikely at this point, it would be nice to see him bump into Freeza or Broly and have a little scuffle; Freeza losing due to being cocky, Broly losing due to being inexperienced, etc
Hes not going to win =(

The usual Manga stakes escalation trope of letting an opponent off the hook so we can have even more pages of fighting and drama!
Boring. One Punch Man taught me the satisfaction of seeing a fight end when it realistically could end, instead of padding shit out forever and ever for the sake of "muh drama", especially when said drama has been repeated across the series ad nausem and only serves to make the protagonists look like blithering idiots who are incapable of learning from past mistakes.
But hey, manga is made for kids so whatever.
It's Goku. It's literally his character to not finish his opponent when he has the chance.

It ain't just Goku. Its the series in its entirety. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan. Whoever is in the driver's seat will drag the fight out for drama's sake regardless of the consequences to the in-world universe, lol. The only people who will straight up finish the job are never given enough power to finish a job. I'd say Piccolo, but even he fooled around with Gero when he could have offed him because if he didn't, we wouldn't have a story.
Thank God for One Punch Man where we can get around the "if X finishes Y, what else would we watch?" nonsense.
