It was a fuckin dick move.

It was a dick move, though a part of me thinks Russell should have been prepared for "anything." Race to me was pretty boring, the stand out moments being Albon's defense and the hope of Russell giving Alonso a full attack. Max dropped out, but the front of the race played out basically the same. Commanding lead from Sainz to which there was no competing against. Not much else happened in the race. If the midfield had better dueling, we didn't see it.
Yeah, the clean air advantage upfront is truly mindboggling tbh. It feels like whomever is in first gets a massive boost until they start catch backmarkers 35-40 laps in.
The new cars suck! But this was the best race of the season so far

A 20 sec penalty plus losing points of his license means it went well beyond "dick move"
It was 100% a dick move my Alonso. It was an irrational tactic that no sensible person following him would have expected. Telemetry outright shows Alonso damn near brake checked him. It's not mind games (which Alonso is usually good at) when you fuck around like a rookie.
We've also seen "dick moves" already, between Hulkenburg and Perez slowing people down intentionally. Neither of those received points penalties. This clearly went beyond being a dick.
Yeah. There's smart defending and there's whatever the fuck Alonso was thinking about.
Huge difference between slowing drivers down and this, which was lifting + braking 100m before usual place (even when defending), dropping down one gear at a place that always been taken in top ger, then picking up the pace again. I say Russel should have been ready for anything because people crash in front of others all the time and you have to be ready to react at a split second's notice, but it doesn't change the fact that Alonso pulled a fucked up move. It is actually feasible that the tow breaking in such an unexpected manner and coming back can take shit out of the rear driver's hands.
I mean FFS it was sudden and slow enough that I could tell before the penalty that it was fishy.
I'm most shocked that gunther didn't drop some heavy curses in the post-race.
