Still not as bad as 8's port. I still have nightmares providing tech support for that game when I worked at EA. Especially if they called about the guaranteed crash bug. Nothing like not noticing your new game is corrupted from the start until you reach the first Laguna dream sequence and the game crashes on the first scripted random encounter every single time with the only fix of start over.

13-2 and 13-3 have terrible frame rate issues, doesn't matter what kind of system you're using they just chug hard because of poor optimization in porting. Original 13 release isn't too bad from my experience.

All the ports (including the original) run like shit. Lightning Returns at least got a mod to fix the framerate issues but XIII and XIII-2 will refuse to run at a stable framerate on machines that should run them flawlessly if you're among the unlucky ones like me.

XIII-2 is a fantastic game, although I couldn't get into the story so I won't speak for that. the gameplay is everything good about XIII with none of the bad (linear bullshit etc.)

I beat 13 and 13-2. I couldn't bring myself to finish 13-3 and watched the ending on youtube. 13-3 could have just been called Lightning Fan Service and it would have made sense from a title perspective.

On my PC it drops to 12 fps when I open certain menus (Libra in particular), is otherwise hovering around 30 and runs at full 60 if I remove the minimap on the field. From my experience the HUD is causing issues with the framerate which is... bizarre to say the least. If you're affected it's extremely noticeable and will ruin the experience.

that's too bad, but lines up with what I've heard. XIII had a great battle system but was too linear (why can't EVERYTHING be like Gran Pulse?) and XIII-2 fixed that by adding tons of sidequests and more free roaming but the story made little to no sense (from my perspective). XIII-3 could have been the one to fix it all... but nope lol

It's a fairly polarizing system, opinions are opinions. I personally think 12's battle system was trash, but it was the first small attempt towards becoming more active. 13 was the next logical step, and then 15 is where we ended up.

That being said, I don't really buy into the idea that more options = more enjoyment.

Oh god. Why?!? I tried to platinum 13 but I got to the "collect one of every item" one and gave up after grinding those game mobs that you can't fight after you beat it for like 10 hours straight.
