Are you looking at the Special tab under your research menu? Because even after you fully complete a special quest, you can still see the title of the questline.

You really need to prioritize using things that resist whatever the grunt has. Their pokemon have their attack stats super inflated. Tyranitars with Smackdown are good for a lot of them. Metagross with Meteor Mash also works well for several.

They give you a clue about what type they are about to use in their banter so you can plan your team accordingly.

The TR stops seem to change every 20ish minutes or so? Not exactly sure the frequency.

Oh I know, it just seems even when I plan my team accordingly the 2nd and 3rd pokemon shred me.

I've beaten the first two I went against, but the 2nd one was dicey. Didn't pay attention to the banter and it was psychic, and his damn Drowzee just eviscerated my 2800 CP Machamp.

Is the team rocket thing still going? I thought it was till the 1st. I only saw two grunts and they were both easy, but the game locked up on the 2nd one and it made me time out, was able to just retry and win though. Too bad it was before I was on the 2nd part of the rocket research thing.

It's still going on. Going on indefinitely as far as I'm aware. They're just rare and harder to find because they're only active for like 10 minutes.

FYI yesterday I finished 10/10 Team Rocket fights, next time I found one and cleared it popped up 11/100 so looks like this is sticking around for a while.
