Giphy banned baby Yoda .gif's over the weekend because they thought they were illegal.

Gifs featuring the co-star of the Mandalorian TV series had been widely shared online, with many viewers declaring the small alien as being "the best thing" about the new Disney+ show.

But the animations disappeared late last week after Giphy - the platform used to make them - blocked the posts.

It said it had done so because of "confusion" about their legal status.

Giphy has since clarified that Disney was not to blame.

"Last week, there was some confusion around certain content uploaded to Giphy and we temporarily removed these Gifs while we reviewed the situation," said the image-hosting website in a statement.

"We apologise to both Disney and Vulture for any inconvenience, and we are happy to report that the Gifs are once again live on Giphy."

I will never understand why corporations go out of their way to stifle fan excitement. Real galaxy brain shit.

Also noteworthy if anyone missed it. Episode 3 was directed by Deborah Chow, the first woman to direct any live action Star Wars features. Chow is also tapped to be the producer for the Obi-Wan series.

That's some basic ass merch I'd expect from a flea market, not Disney official merchandising...

They intentionally didn’t make merch ahead of time to avoid spoilers. This is what we get when they have to rush something out in time for Christmas.

That is awful. Everything down to baby Yoda's expression.

My mom and Wife has been glued to a high-budget television show about Mandalorians just to see Baby Yoda, it’s insane. They both don’t give a single fuck about Star Wars at all.

This episode (4) is definitely the weakest of the bunch so far. It's not bad by any means, but it just feels like a "here's the problem this week" kind of episode instead of advancing the plot. Gina Carrano's acting also leaves a bit to be desired, but luckily she's the muscle most of the time, and her time in the MMA was utilized for a couple scenes.

Clearly they're going for the team building trope ala Seven Samurai, in a 41min episode. Imo they pulled it off as good as they could have done given the constrictions. As a show that has already mostly established its main protagonists, I think this episode was pretty good.

I'd put it around episode 2, so in the bottom half. It fits in the space western theme the show is going for, but it wasn't the best episode.

That said, the AT-ST scene was probably one of the best AT-ST scenes in the entire franchise. Maybe there was something in Rebels or in a game, but I don't remember another time where an AT-ST seemed that intimidating.

Agree. Thought it was weak and really cheesy. Carano was painful and Pascal felt super limited to the point of being irrelevant

Crazy because this is the most he's spoken in the entire series so far.

I thought it was definitely the weakest of the four, but not bad. The Marauders reminded me of the Marauders in the Ewok movies.
