Man that silhouette so botw link looks so damn cool!
Oh man imagine local multiplayer with each playing off their own undocked switch...
Inb4 Melee is better.
I think we can safely assume Melee will have a permanent slot at events like Evo no matter how this one turns out.
and melee autists will keep playing melee and Wizard's fat fuck ass still won't remove melee from Evo.
I really think this will be Smash 4.5 and not Smash 5.
But, I also wonder if Nintendo isn't just going to handle this as a Switch version independent of entry numbers and support it like they did with the Wii U version over the course of 2-3 years, basically having a small team from Bamco providing most of the heavy lifting.
I expect stylistic changes for characters like Mario and Link, with Smash 4's mechanics to remain intact.
A small Bayo nerf would be great as well.
Daddy Sakurai!
The hype train keeps chugging on.
Official trailer added to OP. Bamco is not listed as the developer, instead, development is back at HAL Laboratory whose last in-house Smash development was Melee. They provided assets for Brawl.
Excuse me as I squeal like a child.
Squeeeeee!!!
You guys may be totally right, I can easily see them doing Smash 4 Deluxe with this.
But... I dunno. I just can't believe they would go through the trouble of showing us Odyssey Mario and BotW Link after introducing the Squids as new characters if this weren't a full new title.
The impression I got wasn't, "Please enjoy these reskins and/or new dlc characters for Smash 4 when we port it to Switch!".
It seemed way more like, "What's up motherfuckers, it's time to meet your completely reworked base versions of Mario and Adult Link for Smash 5, which we've decided to give you for Christmas this year," and then they dropped a mic so cosmically ill that it lit the whole sky on fire.
They were ambiguous as fuck to get us debating if it's going to be a remake or a new game.
..And they succeeded. I really do think it could go either way but that would mean this shit's been in development for a while already..possibly around the time smash 4 stopped. Didn't Sakurai say they were done for a while? Not that I'd believe him if he did, but..
They're really going all out with the Switch this year.
