    Yeah, that was the entire conclusion lol. She kills Aries and it doesn't really change shit, because people are people and they can suck without being pushed by a God.

    Hell that's pretty much what Pine was saying all along even. That people just suck and this isn't the work of some mysterious boogie man. Aries himself said it didn't take much and was actively playing on the "good guys" side.

    Eh? When Ares died the power of friendship took hold of the German soldiers and ended the war.
    If anything that movie told us WW1 happened 'cause of supernatural shit and people are only bad because gods are fucking with us.

    The plot doesn't have that much grey area because it's WWI. Understandable. By using a historical setting, we already have an idea of who is the evil in the picture.

    My problem is more that it's the characters that have no grey areas within this black and white scope. Wonder Woman is necessarily "good", Ares is necessarily "evil". She kills him because he represents evil. It doesn't change anything in humanity because the people are made the way they are, but there were no conflicts in these god characters' actions and motivations. Her boyfriend was the closest we got to an interesting character, and he was all right I suppose, but I still wasn't buying the chemistry. I think the worst flaw of the movie is probably that the villain is written as completely one-dimensional. He is the evil she has to kill, and neither she nor the audience is given a chance to consider whether he could be anything but "the bad guy for the good guy to fight". I suppose part of this is the circumstances of the plot; it's WWI and people who are gassing local populations are generally considered straight-up evil by basically everyone, as are people who decide that humanity should be wiped out entirely.

    Well, the movie didn't do it for me, but it's not a trash fire or anything. It just wasn't something I want to see again.

    I was going to argue with you and say all Marvel villains are 100% evil as well but then I thought about pretty much every Spiderman villain and all of them have layers of humanity there. Loki, Magneto, etc too.

    I guess mostly just the alien villains like Ronan, Thanos, etc are evil for evils sake.

    I misspoke! It was that she killed Ludenw/e thinking he was Ares the whole time. And realizing that nah, he was just a piece of shit and Ares had nothing to do with him.

    I think? Idk, I need to rewatch it lol

    Ronan will probably become a more layered character when we see him in Captain Marvel and learn what drives his hatred for Xandar.

    Speaking of, not to derail but I'm certain that in Phase 4 one of the plot points will be Xandar rebuilding the Nova Corps, which will see a helmet end up on Earth.

    Not a Direct Sequel, More of a Standalone (Like James Bond)
    [Jenkins] was just determined that this movie should be the next iteration of Wonder Woman but not a sequel. And she’s definitely delivering on that. It’s a completely different time frame and you’ll get a sense of what Diana-slash–Wonder Woman had been doing in the intervening years. But it’s a completely different story that we’re telling.

    I hate to be the one to tell her this, but what she described 1984 as being IS still a sequel.

    So... a... sequal... if you're telling us what she's been doing since you know... we last saw her <___________<;

    The 80s are different than the 90s, though.

    Hollywood is typically super original with its ideas so for 2 movies to have such similar themes is really uncharacteristic of the industry

    If Gal Gadot doesn't have Lynda Carter's WW hairstyle, that would be a huge disappointment.
