damn near perfect, and only reason to care about wonder woman imo. first movie wasn't that great without her as eye candy.

I doubt anybody would've watched it if she wasn't so damned attractive.

I still don't understand watching a movie to see someone attractive when the internet exists.

Are we going to let this movie slide if it's as good/just as good as the first? Or are we going to hold it to a higher standard this time?

So besides part of Guardians 2 & Ant Man set during that timeline and X-Men: Apocalypse, what other Marvel film is set in the 80's?

I kept thinking it was the 80's.

I go sit in the corner now and think about what I did.

Only if the whole thing is. If they give us a DBZ ending again...

The first one wasn't that good to begin with.

Yes, it was good by DC standards, but it was not good in general. Shouldn't give the movie a pass just because the heroine was well-cast and a good actress. The impression the movie left on me was less than the worst Marvel movie, if we want to judge by those standards (which, for the record, I count as Thor 2, because I don't acknowledge the Hulk movie and haven't seen it lol).

The jokes were mostly not funny, the tone was kind of a drag, the last third of the movie was stupid, the villain was ridiculous, the romance was completely unconvincing and, although this is not necessarily the movie's fault, DC superheroes are simply hard to relate to, being perfect gods/goddesses with zero flaws. If I'm caught wondering why I'm rooting for the heroine at all, I can't consider it a good movie. These types of black and white "good vs evil" heroes might have worked well in the past but they don't in this age, imo.

DC could have changed WW slightly to be a more relatable character though - we do see quite a lot of liberties being taken in translation from superhero comics to the big-screen movies, as far as I've been told - but it begs the question whether fans of WW would be satisfied with that so I'm not sure if that's the right answer, not being a reader of the comics myself.

I am honestly curious if there will be improvements in the categories I criticized, but I'm not really holding my breath. I will be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be so, though.

^Couldn't agree more. It was praised on here, so you might catch some flak. Feels like it should have come some time during Singer's X-Men trilogy. Before The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Avengers, and Winter Soldier raised the bar.

Yeah I disagree with most of that lol. The only real problem in the movie was the villain(s). I enjoyed the jokes, the tone, and the romance was perfectly fine imo lol. Pine and Gadot were both amazing in pretty much every single scene they were in, and the no man's land scene was worth the price of admission by itself. None of the villains were very entertaining, and old british aries shooting lasers was dumb as fuck, but thats the same problem Marvel suffered from until fairly recently.

It was a good movie, far from perfect, but still very good.

I saw great chemistry between Pine and Gadot, and the world not being black and white good vs. evil was the point of the film and Diana's journey.
