They did manage to introduce the OG Guardians in GOTG2, I could see them hitting the panic button and doing a side movie with them to see if it works/buy more time to woo back Batista, Pratt, etc

The classic Guardians of the Galaxy were Starhawk (Stallone's character), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Yondu, Vance Astro, Martinex, and Aleta. They later added Nikki and Talon, but neither of them were in the closing shot. They also replaced Vance Astro (who is a mutant and wouldn't have been able to be used when GotG2 was filmed) with Krugarr (who wasn't a Guardian, but rather the future Sorcerer Supreme), the snake-person you saw. Now originally this team didn't exist until the 31st century, but it looks like that is no longer a thing.

i mean

the second one wasn't even very good i'm not sure Gunn is this critical irreplaceable talent. production delays suck but are also kinda whatever.

and the Bautista talk is overblown the man is under contract, he can't walk from Guardians 3 even if he wanted to lest he wind up in the mouse prison.

I just don't understand why they cant slap an EP credit on Gunn and name a new director.
