My site for downloads-that-shall-not-be-named says they're close to homebrew and ROM support for Switch. Anyone else have any more info on this?

As soon as the CFW for it releases, piracy will be rampant. Atmosphere is due to release in the coming few weeks. The console is vulnerable and cannot be fixed without a hardware revision, so provided you currently own one it's "safe" to keep it updated. Firmware <= 4.0.1 won't need the hard mod. Waiting for Atmosphere myself and I as of right now, will need to use the hard mod.

There are useful tools, but it is still limited by a lacking presence of CFW and being in what I consider "early development" for hacking and homebrew. At current, I don't see much of a reason to hack it unless you enjoy oddball Linux machines and tools for specific games like Splatoon/BoTW save editors.

That said, Atmosphere should fix just about all of that. You can pick up an RCM jig (shorts the NSW's joycon pins and boots it into recovery mode) and go from there if you're on higher firmware versions. Shouldn't be anymore than a few bucks for a jig, or you can make one yourself if you're comfortable with shorting something with a paperclip.

edit: Didn't mention it, but the short is done externally. You won't need to open anything. And you'll only need to do it once provided you install autoRCM. I think in the future the process will be much more streamlined and there will likely be a software exploit for all firmware revisions up to 5.x+ at some point.

Good for them. This means Nintendo is likely giving them a long leash like Retro - though the hopeful in me is hoping this was opened to help Bamco with a Xenosaga remaster while the other 2 studios do their own thing.

The port is already done & Nintendo approved so that August date is solid. We'll announce the exact date soon. Hopefully we'll be able to send Switch review codes out before long - unlike the original launch, we want to do this one right with plenty of media coverage.

Additionally, on June 27 at 12:00 JST, Level-5 will hold an event that will be live streamed on YouTube where it will announce a new Yo-kai Watch game that is not Yo-kai Watch 4 in commemoration of the series’ fifth anniversary. It is said to be a title that will shake the world.
