Probably trying to get the story out before the big players write about it.

I've been playing the heck out of Cadence of Hyrule, and I have no words for how good it is.

I saw pretty much all of giant bombs coverage of the game, and even they say its a low key link to the past sequel/take on zelda. Watching them play, its basically freaking lttp/lbw with a sick OST in the backround.

    Spoilers just in case.

    Spoiler: show
I nearly jumped off the couch when Link goes to dark world at the end. The game only got hard right before the last boss. Once you find where to do upgrades and such it's actually not much of a challenge. Even thought the world (and the majority of items) are persistent after death (unlike Necrodancer) it generates it all at the start of the game so that the "challenge" is deciding how much you need to explore before taking on dungeons. Boss chests often offer a choice of one of multiple items, so deciding what you want or need (which might be a new item, or upgrading an existing one) is a major part of the strategy. You'll regularly come across mini-puzzles that can't be solved because you don't have the right item(s) yet. The game design there is absolutely brilliant. And they left open the possibility of a crossover with a different game next. I was hoping they were going to tie Cadence in to the creation of Hyrule's first magical music instruments, but it wasn't to be.

The music in this game is beyond outstanding. There are threads not only of different Zelda themes, but all interwoven with parts of the original Necrodancer soundtrack (which was fantastic in its own right).

No PS4 or Xbox version because GunHo doesn't want to do a 4k remaster. They also like the Switch more because it's based off of older tech.

First off, Minagawa-san thinks that the Nintendo Switch is the console that suits a game like Grandia HD Collection the best. “The Switch seems to be a platform that is revitalizing and reviving the JRPG, even old JPRGs,” he explained. As other older JPRG IPs like the Mana series are finding new life on Nintendo Switch with things like Collection of Mana. this thought process makes sense.

As for a reason more specific to the PS4, Takeshi Minagawa discussed the challenges of making the game support 4K on the more powerful system. “When you look at Nintendo Switch, it only supports up to 1080p. The PS4 is now actually moving into 4K. If we actually tried to convert the original graphics to 4K, one, that’s too much work, and two, we are going to have to think about how we are trying to convert the visuals to 4K while keeping the original essence in it.” With how much work is being done to tailor Grandia HD Collection to modern platforms and screens, attempting to refine the dated visuals even further into 4K is probably a difficult task.

That being said, Minagawa-san would not rule out the possibility of Grandia HD Collection coming to PS4 in the future. “Still, there is a possibility that we are going to convert and try to bring Grandia and Grandia II to PS4 but I think the Switch is more suitable to deliver the older games to the fans. When it comes to the future, we don’t know yet. Maybe we’d think about bringing it to the PS4 and Xbox,” Takeshi Minagawa concluded.

Eh, xbox isnt as big in Japan so I can understand that, but not on ps4 either? Bold move...and I'm sure hes only comfortable with it because he isnt actually making a new game.

So new to this switch thing, but what's a good controller to use when playing on a TV? Is the best Nintendo controller still from the sixth console generation?

I don't have one but people constantly say the two best controllers ever made are the xbox one controller and the switch pro controller, and those people always go back and forth on who's #1 lol.

If switch had better triggers it would be legit.

They're not analog, which is a nonissue for a lot of games, but limiting for ones that'd benefit (or are ports from other platforms that do have them).

I only have BotW but I absolutely loved the pro controller. Between XBone, PS4 and that, it was by far the most comfortable controller for me for extended use.
