Part of me wonders if this has been a very successful stress test for some party. A coordinated drone disruption across multiple major airports would be some serious chaos. Or it's an elaborate troll worth 5 years in jail.

It's been just over 24 hours now, and they're still not able to locate the operator(s), only following up on persons of interest. It sounds like they might eventually shoot the damn thing, which appears to be professionally prepared to cause this disruption. This ain't a drone you'd find at Target.

Gatwick flights were suspended again for about an hour this evening before recently resuming operations.

A military solution is in place, and operators have been informed it's now safe to fly regardless of the confirmed drone sightings.

I guess all that's left is potentially seeing this 'solution' in action.
