Just saw this exists, looks interesting, but no release date and no info about it pretty much anywhere. 2019 is almost over. Inevitably pushed back?

Still in development as of E3 2019. Platinum says it's SE holding back on promoting the game.

    https://www.babylonsfall.com/beta/ - pre-reg

BABYLON’S FALL is a new game developed in partnership with PlatinumGames - the action masters behind games like NieR:Automata.

You’ll take the role of a Sentinel - part of a group of powerful warriors. With a group of other players, you’ll enter the titanic Tower of Babylon in search of a great legacy that sleeps within.

The first thing you’ll probably notice when you look at the trailer and screenshots is the game’s distinctive brushwork art style. It gives this uniquely compelling world the appearance of a medieval oil painting, and the game a unique personality that matches the action.

And what action it is! PlatinumGames are renowned as one of the best in the biz at this kind of thing, and BABYLON’S FALL shows exactly why.

    Is BABYLON’S FALL multiplayer?

Yes, BABYLON’S FALL is a co-op game with a party of up to four players. What’s more, playing with a team gives you all kinds of options in combat, letting you combine your different weapons and abilities to conquer the many challenges of the tower.

Will there be a BABYLON’S FALL beta?

If you’re interested in trying BABYLON’S FALL before release, you can sign up to take part in the closed beta.

This test will be held over three phases, with different tests being carried out during each, and more platforms added as they progress. The results of the tests, as well as your valuable feedback, will be used to improve the quality of BABYLON’S FALL upon release.

This game kinda sucks. It's like Platinum wanted to make it's own Godfall. The combat is slow, the controls are unresponsive, and fighting mobs is a mess. The beta has no tutorial, so you're left you your own devices to figure out the mechanics of the game. Face buttons are normal attacks, triggers are special attacks that require meter. There is a jump button, but it does not always respond. There is a dash/dodge button, but using it also uses the special meter. I could not find a parry, block, or timed dodge, so a lot of my time was go in for a few attacks, then train the mobs around an arena while waiting for an opening. Oh, and there is also a lock-on button, but there didn't seem like you'd have a choice on who to target.

The level design is long hallway > arena. Hallways are primarily collectables, chests, and traps (you're not told what is a trap until you experience it). There was one short hallway section on the first quest with a handful of mobs. There are also jumping puzzles in these hallways, so have an unresponsive jump button and an incredibly limited air dash makes me question their level design.

Arenas are wave based. You're introduced to a gremlin-like mob that has an aoe jumping special. The gremlin's HQ version is holding a shield, you cannot break this shield, so you have to wait about 15-20 seconds for it to lower it. Next up is an Egyptian mummy that has a charge special. It has a variant that wears a cloak and throws fire grenades which will prevent you from attacking if you get hit. They have a large circle aoe special that seems like it should be a suicide attack, but this is not so. There was some flying mobs, but you don't have anti-air attacks, so you have to wait for them to drop down to your eye-level to attack them. The final mob I was introduced to was a suit of armor and it had a boss version that was taller and had more HP.

There is a character creator at the beginning, but they have a helmet on your character during that, so you do not actually know what your character will look like until you start the game.

Hub city is basic. There is no waypoints leading you to quest/missions NPCs or shops. You have to hunt down your storage.

Party system will matchmake with others also seeking to party. I matched up with no one after five minutes. During matchmaking, you cannot interact with town NPC's or your storage.

All loot you collect cannot be seen or equipped until after you've finished a quest (think Anthem). A lot of the blue and green rarity drops seemed to have worse stats than starting gear.

You have five free revives during a quest before it fails the quest.

    I think that's everything I experienced.

Thats strange the combat was plenty responsive to me, what platform did you play on? I do admit though they needed a tutorial, but the gameplay loop in the demo is trash. also hard to find wtf perks do and how to trigger them. There is definitely potential build diversity and I found the combat better than godfall which doenst say much lol. Also the artstyle is shit. There are slots that need unlockig that defintely enhances gameplay but thats not something they explain in the game. There might be a good story in there but its not in the demo which is really just a demo many of the systems are not in the game. It should have been labeled network test, but Elden ring did that better too lol.

Game dropped yesterday and it's not reviewing well and looking like another SE live-service flop

Day one peak concurrent players on Steam amounted to less than 650. Avengers 28k on day one and Outriders had 125k.

    Sounds more like Babylon's Fail.

Shame; I was intrigued by it, but looks like this is a pass for now.

Looks like a sub par game to begin with and they released it right next to Horizon and Elden Ring, two similar games (that aren't GaaS) clearly doing it way better.

Godfall sucked so why do we need another one where they couldn't even be bothered and had to reuse assets from another game.
