Deadwood (HBO) reunion movie/finale

Screenwriter David Milch announced back in November 2017 that he had finished a script for a reunion/finale movie, and HBO began reaching out to former cast members asking for availability.

March 2018, Timothy Olyphant is asked about it on Watch What Happens Live, and definitively responded that it's "never going to fucking happen".

Series lead Kim Dickens was written off the show last night, and during Talking Dead she announced her next project was the Deadwood movie set to begin filming in fall 2018.

I don't really have much more to say right now, but I loved this and I'm so happy they actually ended up doing this.

I fucking loved it. I forgot how god damn Shakespearean the dialogue could be and it was fantastic. Felt so good to see so many lovable characters again. I felt like it was a perfect ending by closing the chapter on certain characters and keeping just enough intrigue with others that they could do another movie if they ever wanted to. Highly recommended.

All I really wanted/needed was to have the feeling that it was worth the wait, and while I wish there were not such a wait, this was not a letdown at all.

I believe way back when rumors first started, they spoke of doing 2 movies, but what's Milch's health even at this point? I know he got Alzheimers around the time that he started writing this, but I'd be more than happy if that's truly the end right there. As a standalone movie, it was good, as two hours of the series, it was great, but as the finale that we never got, I thought that was outstanding. The series is a true joy as it proved once again that it's by and for people who truly respect and love these characters.

I went back and watched the E.B. Farnum scenes. Just perfect.
