So uh... Overlord happened and it.. it was what it was. Definitely enjoyed reading it more then I did watching it. You'd think with how cheap last week's episode looked that they were saving money for this week's episode but nope.

Watched Mirai no Mirai earlier today at VIFF. Good movie, pretty much up there with Mamoru Hosoda’s other works if anyone is familiar with those. Really enjoyed it

Also, the mom in Hanebado is just...terrible.

Yeah, Overlord was pretty mediocre. I like the LN's but the anime is all sorts of meh.

And Hanebado suuuuuucks. Especially when you compare it to some awesome sports anime like Haikyuu, Megalo Box, Hajime no Ippo, or even shows like Chihayafuru or Ping Pong the animation, it just doesn't match up at all.

Hanabado sucks but boy can they animate a sweaty girl.

The lesson being that even if you're an irredeemable asshole as long as you're good at something you can have "friends". Could have been interesting, but wasted potential.

100%. I gave Hanebado a shot b/c the animation looked solid and I figured it would be a female version of Haikyuuu...it is not at all. The main character is literally a sociopath.

Which could've been interesting, but really isn't in this case. They tried to be too many things at once and to cram too many story arcs in one season - I mean, the Pink haired girl or Connie seem to be two very important characters for Ayano's development/backstory, yet they get barely any screen time after their initial appearance. And for a sports anime only the last match really felt interesting and worthwhile, other than that we didn't really get much action in general :/
