    Windows Security Update Problem

So, I did a security update for Windows about 1-1.5 months ago. Since then, my laptop only loads to this screen:

    Spoiler: show

I go through all the menus (I think I have) to no avail. Any suggestions besides "you're fucked"? I have 20+ years of music and pictures on there I'd rather not lose

While windows processing that update, some system files and/or mbr got corrupted.

Can try to repairing using advanced options.

From that screen you posted click troubleshoot, then next screen click command prompt.

You will get a black screen where can type commands.
Enter the following commands below, then press Enter after each command:
    chkdsk c: /f
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
    bcdboot c:\windows /s c:

    Hopefully that will repair everything.

There is a way to fix that access is denied error but you might need your windows 10 recovery usb and some patience. If you dont have one you can create it on another windows 10 pc using the media creation tool.

the video below explains fairly well what need to do to fix the denied error and get windows working again.

where might have problems differ from video is when listing vol for drive 0. depending how windows was setup some systems have a separate partition(usually labeled as efi on the screen), others its integrated into the C: partition. if dont have anything says efi, just choose the number for the C:
