It is. Ruby Rose already has his haircut.
It is. Ruby Rose already has his haircut.
Word is Ruby Rose has quit.
With how that season ended on a cliffhanger thats gonna be an awkward as fuck recast.
So much for season 2.
Some low hanging fruit for the idiots.“Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best,” the two companies said. “The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman’s second season and long-term future, and we — along with the show’s talented creative team — look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months.”
There has to be some background drama for this to happen. Its rare for a lead actor/actress to exit a show so soon, especially with a CW show that you know will go on for many more seasons and the guaranteed pay day that provides
Prevailing theory I've seen is because of some injury she got during filming
Hawaii 5-0 basically ended for the same reason.
I don't think CW is gonna let it die. They had to fight a lot to get a Batman related show lol
Yeah it was just on the top of my head because I finished H5-0 (I am a terrible human) and I guess the lead actor hurt himself in one of the first few season and had to ride it out in pain for many years, which led to him not wanting to re-sign.
Gotta say, random actors w/o much training doing their own stunts seems dumb to me. You are the lead, you are making money. Let the pros do it.
Tell that to Tom Cruise.
I definitely think there were other factors to her quitting, but the neck injury weighed heavily into her decision.
From what I hear, a lot of these new CW shows setup the contracts for multiple years to lock the actors/actresses in case the show becomes a hit/gets renewed. These shows oftentimes take 7-8 months to shoot a whole season and can be very physically demanding and Ruby probably realized after her injury that she didn't want to keep doing this especially since there was a rumor that she was homesick (she's from Australia).
Yeah, I suspect CW will wind up being a bit more tight on their stuntwork after this. I know Amell tried to do what he could with Arrow, but there are probably times where he'd admit to having made mistakes in his stunt choices, too. That said, I never really had a problem with Ruby's performance(s) specifically, but the show's writing did feel pretty derpy at times. On the broader front, I held no real interest in the Alice angle and it literally being the whole season didn't help. As someone who hasn't read anything Batwoman, I was otherwise more interested in what unique villains they could bring into the fray and how she subsequently handles them. There could've been more on tracking down Bruce, and a potentially related villain(s), even if he never actually winds up a major role. Instead, we just kinda got shoehorned into the idea he killed Joker and felt really bad about it. Alas.
On the plus side, I suppose Corona gives them an excuse to take some more time to get their ducks in a row, but I also see this fizzling if they don't improve. This year's Flash has also been insufferably blah, while Legends fluctuates between good and okay depending on the episode.
I still havent come back to Flash after the season with his daughter. Talk about fucking up a show.
I haven't watched the show yet(I'll get to it) but just switch out Batgirl with a new DC female character that played her in the comics before. Make next season Barbara Gordon or some shit and just keep switching from there. in 4-5 years, have them all team up for whatever reason.
