Eh, I can't disagree more. Like they're okay action movies but all the great characterization and story is in the series. I could forgive that, but for some reason they kept wasting time with new characters like Mari. I think it'd be a disservice to just a watch the movies. It's supplementary material at bes.t

I got an offer of a free month of Prime from getting some stuff last month, so I finally watched all the rebuild films this weekend. Dodged them for the past decade waiting for them all to be finished.
1 and 2 were fine, 3 was meh, 4 was..
Well, the scenery porn was pretty. But the new suits, units, etc. all I could think of was "Shit, it's been a decade, we need new merch designs."

All in all, I'd still recommend the ADV sub TV 1-24, then EoE. If 1 & 2 DIDN'T make changes, maybe I'd recommend it as an alternative to the Death recap.
Unlike the Fate/Stay Night remakes, these just didn't feel needed or necessary.

Also. I've been off the anime train for the past 5 years, so I dunno if there's finally cases of it being good, but the CG still looks bad, too jerky, stop doing CG animation on-2s or on-3s, IT DOES NOT WORK.
Yes the first movies were a decade ago, but it's still not up to snuff in 3.0+1.0 (even with the tokusatu fight doing it intentionally). And there's just too much of "oh, we can copy/paste the 3d asset and use dozen/hundred/(thousands?) to make a big scene!"

Beautiful World is a banger though.

I like the fact they aren't. It inspired me temporarily to try and draw my own manga where (because I very much dislike a KID as a main char) a dude in his 30s pilots a mech which happens to be his wife, half inspired by the mech in Zone of the Enders Dolores who is sentient.

Yeah it was nice. However, I thought (for some reason) this had been remastered or something. That's not the case, as far as I can tell. It is still a spectacle and lovingly crafted but you can see a lot of the warts on the big screen.
