Plus the beam towards the end of the trailer doesn't match up with godzilla's typical looking atomic breath. Kong probably slashes his skin off to reveal he's mecha after that moment.

Gotta be one of the aliens in the other godzilla movies debuting in this to help create mechagodzilla. Ain't no way humans in the monsterverse can go high tech like that in a short span of time after king of the monsters.

Kong is set in the past though so does it matter that much? I don't remember if there's a lot of Godzilla connections in that movie or not.
