perhaps after WC qualifying we'll make the World Cup 2022: Dead Migrant Workers Edition thread
Well, while this has been bumped.
Italy lost at home to North Macedonia in a WC qualifier and has failed to make it to the world cup for a second consecutive time.
They won the Euros in the middle lol
World cup draws are happening.
USA and England in the same group and their match is gonna happen on Black Friday. Glorious
i'm glad Qatar got strong teams from Pots 2, 3, and 4; kindly let us not waste a knockout match on these clowns. they couldn't have drawn much more than Netherlands, Senegal, Ecuador
i feel a little for Peru; if they qualify, they have a tough group. their 2018 showing was great despite going out in the group stage. i hope they qualify and get out of the group, probably at Denmark's expense
Group B is such a geopolitical powderkeg lol
England
Iran
USA
Wales/Scotland/Ukraine
Draw in-full
Poland are going out at the group stage again. (Argentina, Mexico)Group A: Qatar (hosts), Netherlands, Senegal, Ecuador
Group B: England, United States, Iran, Wales/Scotland/Ukraine
Group C: Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia
Group D: France, Denmark, Tunisia, Peru/Australia/UAE
Group E: Spain, Germany, Japan, Costa Rica/New Zealand
Group F: Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, Canada
Group G: Brazil, Switzerland, Serbia, Cameroon
Group H: Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana
Canada can make it out of that group. This is it for Belgium, but we've been saying that for awhile now. It might already be too late.
Uruguay-Ghana. Nice.
Poland is gonna lose to Saudi Arabia and and Mexico and then beat Argentina in a match that doesn't matter lol
Will usa win 1-1 again
Let's go Scotland! (or Ukraine for feels)

Apparently the stadium was 4000 people overcapacity. That is extremely dangerous especially in a heated derby game.
So, spoiler alert for season 2 of welcome to wrexham.
Yesterday, Wrexham played Notts county for what was likely going to be promotion into the league. The game really had everything. Wrexham and Notts were tied in points and only separating by goal differential with just a few games remaining. They both have 100+ points, and both teams may break the record for the most points in national league history. Notts striker is breaking the single season goal record. Both teams lead the 3rd place team by like 25 points. It's these two teams and only one of them gets automatic promotion. Notts Co are coming in highly emotional. They're beloved CEO died at 50 less than 2 weeks ago. Wrexham came in off a devastating loss. The game was billed as the biggest non-league game in history. Not often do games with that kind of hype live up to the billing...welp
Game starts out stiff. Notts are playing a high line and Wrexham are breaking it, but getting called for some egregious offsides calls. No VAR in non-league games. Get to the end of the first half and Notts county draw a penalty just outside the box. Former premier league player John Bostock scores his first goal in 7 years, puts an absolute dime into the corner and Notts go into the half up 1-0.
Second half is much more frenetic. Wrexham adjust and exploit the high line and score 2 goals before the 70th minute to take the lead. Notts tie it up shortly thereafter. Then in the 78th minute, Notts makes an egregious error and Wrexham drops in a pretty easy goal to go up 3-2. Wrexham take the 3-2 lead into the 90+6th minute. Notts drops a ball into the box and Wrexham has a clear hand ball violation. Final minute, Notts is kicking a penalty kick to tie it.
In mid-March, Wrexham lost their goal keeper to injury. With few options, Wrexham lured former Man U and England WC player Ben Foster out of retirement, who began his career at Wrexham before springboarding to the EPL. He's 40, retired, but still sginficantly better than the other options. Foster is already a Wrexham legend. Now, in the final minute of what most are calling the biggest non-league game ever, he's at the line defending a penalty kick to tie the game. In interviews following the game, he gave some great insight. Data told him to go left. Player set the ball up and squared his hips up in such a way that suggested he's either going to the middle or to the right. Foster picks bottom right...and saves it. Notts take a final corner, Wrexham clears it, game ends 3-2.
One of the best games I've ever watched, and it was a non-league game. The documentary team with Welcome To Wrexham couldn't have asked for more. Insane.
Sick game! Now they are clear w/3 pts and a game at hand.
Considering how punishing National League can be (with only champs getting automatically promoted) it was an incredibly important 3 pts for Wrexham.
