Lol how is he extremely overrated? No one is calling him a world beater but he's still only like 25 and is probably a top 20-25 QB in the league. I'd much rather have him as a backup than just about anyone else aside from Nick Foles.

In what universe was it a dumb signing? One year deal so it's no risk, if he sucks you cut him. Now they have the happy problem of too many competent QBs and other teams with zero.

McCown is injury prone. If they felt Darnold needed more time if/when McCown gets hurt they could have gone to Teddy. Darnold might get the start anyway and thus you trade the better asset (Teddy)

5m for competent QB play is a fucking steal. You are familiar with the deals guys like Glennon amd Osweiler have been getting right?
