Absolutely horrible take but it's not like it's underlying point is incorrect (deep, deep down). Which is fuck the PGA tour.. only governing body in sports run by literal amateurs and the missteps have been numerous.

Could not invent a worse path to that message than Mickelson though lol

im not arguing whether it’s silly or not, just that that’s where a lot of this generally stems from

im gonna make my own golf tour, with blackjack and hookers (and murderers, but some of them are fine people)

Yeah, some of the players have even agreed with some of the points about the Tour, but basically this isn't the way.

Would’ve been hilarious if Scheffler choked at the end lol.

Dustin Johnson is scheduled to play the LIV opener. One of his major sponsors is (was?) RBC, the title sponsor of the PGA event that week.

    This aged well...

He's made probably around $150 million in his career, about $75mil on course, and figure probably about the same from endorsements. He should make well over that total in one season if you factor in his purchase fee. I saw some rough math and it's not unreasonable to see him get $40-50mil winnings. Yeah, there are plenty of names that I recognize as being marquee names, but when their peaks were like 2005-2010 European Tour, is it asking much for a comparatively young DJ to pile up top 10s and a couple wins?

he's scummy for doing it but i get it. he's never seemed to give a shit about legacy or competition or anything, he just saw golf as a means to a very lucrative end so he could party, do blow, and bang hot chicks. i'm sure he'll be just fine wiping his tears with bloody 100 dollar bills

Kevin Na really disappointing all tens of his fans by resigning from the PGA Tour so he can play LIV. In the meantime, all the other fans and the players on tour will be happy about pace of play getting a boost. Something about FREEDOM and CHOICE! I don't know what sort of flexibility PGA has with Euro, Sunshine, Asian, etc. tours, but I guess it's only an issue now.

Something I'd seen is that USGA could potentially block people from the US Open if they're facing disciplinary action from tours, so quitting the tour to duck a suspension seems like the move.

But didn't they resign from the PGA, how does that work? They can still do Majors which is owned by USGA.

  18. #78

what? USGA runs the US open only. augusta runs the masters, PGA of america runs the PGA, and the R&A runs the british

What I had read and heard was is that the non-Masters/non-British Open Majors (since they obviously not owned by PGA/USGA) are not considered "PGA tour events", which means you don't need PGA membership to enroll and play in them.

USGA has already come out and said they'll let the LIV guys play in the US open. i assume the british will too if they haven't already and i don't think augusta honestly gives a shit about possible bad press on this so they'll probably ok it too. i dont know the specifics on the PGA championship but i'd be willing to bet there will be some sort of workaround to allow LIV guys in if they need one
