I'm playing! Is the game supposed to be so time gated? I could only do so much on the first day. Waiting for the museum to be built and for my tent to upgrade to a house

I caved and picked it up this morning. Also waiting on my house + museum.
I picked the bottom left location because I wanted to build my house on the island only to realize I can't. Saw something about being able to relocate later, so I plan on doing that. Also want to figure out how to make my neighbours move because I don't like them. lol
Time travel or started at midnight and paid off the debt before 5am?
Game released at 11 my time. It also didn’t seem to even do a new day until after I went to bed at like 1 am. Either way I woke up with a house.
However I still have to wait on the museum as only the first player to log in can donate the goods for it.
Picked up a copy last night since my amazon order was running late (sadly too late to cancel the Amazon order) and so far enjoying it. My only real complaint is donating fish/insects still feels slow and inefficient.
Bought it digitally yesterday. Twice. One for me and one for the wife. Neither of us have had the energy to play it yet given that she had a baby at 8am yesterday. Downloaded them last night- or I thought I had. Something went wrong with mine and dl got interupted or something so now I have an hour wait now that I have a perfect opportunity to play.
Is this game just stardew valley?
Game is fun, though I have been advancing my Switch's date.
I have heard that we can only get all the fruits via visiting friends and such. If anyone is interested in adding some AC friends, I have apples, oranges and coconuts(coconuts are easily obtainable once you start doing tours).
How do you unlock the shovel? Nook miles?
Blathers on Day 2
Got the game. Super cute.
Gonna kill my son who keeps putting shit all over the place so we can barely move.
San d'Oria. Great taste.
Also minor tip for people that need the 30 wood/hardwood/iron nuggets/etc. for the shop expansion: Save up your Nook Miles. You can buy a ticket for 2000 points and use it at the airport to visit a random island with a villager inhabiting it on it and you can farm resources there.
Do AC games typically become pretty open 'do whatever you want' sort of games? Or do they keep adding progressive little goals to work towards. I just finished building houses for my 3 new villagers and other then paying off my house expansion loan, haven't been given anything else to work towards
Also, my cat villager, Katt, was just hanging out by Tom Nook's tent and singing just because. And it was adorable and I loved it very much.
I've heard they do usually open up at a certain point, so I assume this one will too.
The one thing killing this game for me at the moment is the shop closing at 10 pm when the one in Nook's tent was just open all day. Makes me not even want to play after 10 pm.
Also, the online cutscenes are just.....way too long anytime someone comes to your island or leaves (at least this one is a bit shorter).
Yeah, those cutscenes do take way too long. Another pesky thing is the 2-letter daily limit per friend.
I have all fruit except cherries now, and I also have bamboo shoots, if anyone needs.
