Well folks! It's finally here! After what seemed like the shortest off-season ever, to this fan, the NHL is back!

Your defending Stanley Cup Washington Capitals return all but 1 player to their starting lineup. (I wish it was 2, but we're gonna play Orpik still apparently...) The banner will be raised Wednesday night in Washington as the Caps take on Boston!

The alternate jerseys are also back! There's some classic jerseys in there that made me pee my pants a little bit with excitement. Anaheim, Arizona, New Jersey, Calgary, St. Louis, and Washington all went old school and I fucking love it.

I'm not doing predictions, as I dont believe I have (outside of playoffs) in a while, but of course you all are welcome to!

Will bet money at least one of them gets re-claimed by the Leafs after the goalies they're replacing return from injury. Either way it's not like backups are hard to find. It kinda stings the Marlies I guess but oh well.

only if Jaskin remembers Tom beating him up last preseason.... Jaskin is supposedly friends with Orlov though, and he's half Russian, half Czech, which fits with like half of the team.

The NHL executive committee voted unanimously to recommend to the NHL Board of Governors that Seattle be awarded an expansion team

That vote will be in early December.

Bettman said again that Vegas wont participate in the expansion draft. Due to this, Vegas doesnt get any of the 650mil expansion fee.

Expecting a 5-2 shraks win tonight. Ducks have terrible season opener record. Plus they just can't seem to beat the shraks. I'm am excited to see the 6 rookies in the lineup that impressed me in the preseason. First major game for them is a division rival. Yay for hockey's return.

Also in 2 weeks Im headed to Vegas to catch the Ducks Knights game. Should be fun.
