Waiting for PS5 Pro here, still got a huge backlog on ps4 pro.
I think this is the first official sale on PS5s:

From March 24 to April 16, the GoW PS5 bundle is $50 at like all major retailers (down from $560 to $510).
Really been holding out for a PS5 Slim… any indication of one coming?
I thought there were rumors of a redesign, which would be a slim. How fast they push it out idk, I'd imagine they'd want the Pro out first, then the cheaper slim.

Theres chatter that *something* design related is coming with a rumored June State of Play.
Slim rumors have it being "soonish" with the external disc drive. Pro rumors have it being mid to late 2024.
The word is that the Slim redesign solves a lot of Sony's internal supply problems with increasing the PS5 install base. So I imagine that is their priority instead of waiting another year or more to do something. Honestly their window to release a redesign is from FFXVI until Spiderman because otherwise it doesn't seem to have any form of impact to drive the sale. But Sony's done some unconventional things this gen so who knows.
Personally, the fact they discounted the GoW bundle by ~$50 says they want to rid as much of current stock they have in order to move ahead on the Slim, because they may need to announce it and have it retail ready quick to have an impact this year.
There aren't really supply problems anymore though.
I've seen PS5s sitting on the shelf at the local Best Buy/Costco/Military exchanges for weeks now
Can confirm, you might have to drive to a store or two but you can get any next gen console in South Florida right now.

I have a release PS5 that has heating issues so I might need to cop a slim until the pro comes out
If it was a release day model then maybe. They're using liquid metal which is the absolute top tier in terms of heat transfer, but doesn't have the greatest lifespan. Not the best choice for a console people would have for years, unless the planned obsolescence as the metal degrades was the point.
I forgot about the liquid metal. I wonder if that if that is factor for the dev team in any re-design.

I could see them switching to PTM7950, it's the new hotness among the tech nerds. Performance just below liquid metal but degrades at a much slower pace compared to liquid metal and most thermal pastes. I slapped it on my laptop recently and it's what Nvidia uses in their Founder edition GPUs and Lenovo in their high end laptops.
For ps5, I ended up buying an attachable fan for the back to suck out the hot air. Amazon has many for like $20.
