That is a big jump for the disc less version, doesn't seem right.

Eh I expect digital version to be fairly cheaper to entice people. Getting digital version basically means Sony gets exclusive sales from their PSN store. It will make up the lower cost in spades.
Didn't think of the exclusivity it would provide, makes sense.
Hm...over the life of a console am I going to get $100 out of the disk drive?

I think most people are thinking of the "savings" but people are still heavy into the "I have a disk, I like the case, etc"
Edit: If you have anyone you share stuff with, it could save you a lot of money.
I have never used the disk for anything on my x1, except for rdr2 which my fianxe got for me with the console. I could have easily waited for it to go on sale and be digital =(. I just wonder if now is the time to go 100% digital...i mean I already did it on pc decades ago.

Will not go digital only unless no other option is provided.
Eh, even at $400 for diskless, i dont think that outweighs the risks of a launch console

Unless things change, I feel like I find much better deals on physical games way after launch than digital. I feel like I always have too many things I could be playing and end up waiting before buying a lot of titles and getting them way cheaper. I can definitely understand going digital if you don't want the space taken up by physical copies, but if you're someone who is patient with buying games, the disc version would probably end up saving more money in the long run.
Like, oh no gen1 has issues that they'll fix under warranty for me. The horror! I should have waited to pay the exact same amount of money a year later.

RRoD? Yeah, they eventually extended the warranty to cover it, but a lot of people got screwed before that change.
I can't think of any console that released perfect.

Sounds like reason enough to wait for me.
Sounds like launch consoles can often have issues that make you have to decide if its worth the early adoption

There have already been rumors of overheating from PS5 and those vents don't inspire confidence in me. They're not exactly large. That said they're just that rumors but so far there is nothing that screams day 1 enough for me to not be a little apprehensive.
When I said what risks, it was more of "you're not going to get a bum version that they won't fix under warranty." It was also a poke that "omg my console may not be perfect and $400 will ruin my life because I make poor decisions."
