Some of the stuff isn't enabled on the PS5 yet, but I'd really strongly recommend getting a TV with HDMI 2.1.
4k@120 (at full 4:4:4!), Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency are all fantastic features of the standard. The last two aren't turned on for the PS5 yet (they are for Xbox), but they'll be on hand eventually.
I just bought the LG 75" Class - NANO91 Series - 4K UHD LED LCD TV just for the PS5. My current living room TV isn't 4k, so figured i waited long enough. This TV i picked out mainly for the color range and the fact that the HDMI 3 is not only 4k/120 but also has eARC which I wanted because i'm running everything through my Denon receiver.
Wanted to get an OLED but man those things are not cheap and it's hard to justify an extra 2k for better darks in a dark room (My living room is rarely dark because of natural light, and the wife HATES the dark). The samsungs QLED are super cheap right now, but the last two samsungs i've had have not been the best experience (Not just the picture, but other weird samsung only shit).
Now if the PS5 would just fucking get here.... got the order from costco a few weeks ago. Says it is going to ship this week...
OLED are the only TVs to even consider, as long as price isn't a factor. I hooked my PS5 up to my OLED and it is simply amazing looking (and sounding). But I really only play games on a monitor, which PS5 is a disaster on.
I'm still on an LED 4K w/HDR. The games still look beautiful but I'm ready to upgrade to OLED once we move.

On a QLED here; just bought it maybe a year or so ago? Almost when OLED at that point, but wasn't a fan of the price point of the 65 inch one. So not upgrading any time soon, but eh, by the time I buy a PS5 I'm sure OLEDs will be at an even better price.
Guessing the whole 'screen burn in thing' or whatever with games was exaggerated?
the last test i saw said they only saw burn-in when people would keep on the same news stations for 8+ hours a day without changing channels (Fox/MSNBS logos). I just don't want anything under 75' for my living room, and the cost explodes after 65', so i decided to pass on this round of TV upgrades.
Manufacturers have been both improving the panels and adding additional features to prevent the burn in to the point where it's really not something to worry about unless you're leaving shit sitting on a static image for hours and hours on end.
Rtings has been doing a burn in test for years and the only truly bad one is where the TV has been sitting on CNN for 2+ years
When Vizio comes out with their 77", that's when I'm gonna go up from a 65" OLED. Their 55" & 65" are out already and they're VERY well priced.
People may lol @Vizio, but since LG is literally the only manufacturer making OLEDS (theirs, Sonys, Vizio, etc) you're still getting a good quality screen. only thing that's gonna be different is their UI. Which if it sucks, you can always use the PS5/Xbox for everything (like I do already). So don't be scared to do the Vizio route. Several hundred dollars cheaper.
I rechecked the specs of my tv and it doesn't have 2.1. >_<
This is it:

I bought it early this year specifically to get ready for PS5 and 4k stuff. I read a long time ago that hdmi 2.1 had been released and it would be standard on 4k from then on. I didn't even think to check that one dumb thing. <sigh> I guess I'll be stuck at 60Hz.
Time to sell and rebuy.
Is "Recent players" gone from the UI? Can't seem to find it.
Was helping a newb stuck in Pure Black in Demons Souls and he kept getting invaded by the same dude. But I was so much higher than them both I just one shot him multiple times, wanted to send him a message that I was just helping a random and wasnt trying to be a blue gank squad lol. Dude had a billion XxXxs in his name and I couldnt find him.
I’m trying to explain to my friends that the true cost of a new console isn’t the console or the games. It’s the TV you need and how there is a pretty narrow selection for it. They don’t get it.
